Forums - Gaming Discussion - Favorite Video Game trilogies

What are your favorite video game trilogy's? A series could have more than 3 games but still have a trilogy as long as the story is spread out in those three games (example Metroid prime trilogy).

Here are my favorite :

10.Crash Bandicoot 1,2,3 - Playe the heck out of these as a kid, too bad it went downhill afterwards.

9.Assassins Creed Ezio trilogy - Assassins Creed 2 remains the most beloved game of the series, but Brotherhood and Revelations were also really solid and enjoyable entries.

8.Super Mario Bros. - Super MArio Bros. 1,2,3 - Even though we didn't get the "real" Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 1 &3 more than make up for it, noth revolutionary and near flawless games, another trilogy that denied my childhood.

7.God Of War - God of War 1,2,3 - The story of Kratos was and epic one and one of grand scale, the gameplay (personally) felt really refined and fluid, not many combos but it still didn't dectract from the experience. The story for all 3 was really great as well ( but it got worse after each entry).

6.Grand Theft Auto PS2 Trilogy - GTAIII, Vice City and San Andreas - The games that revolutioned the "sandbox" genre. GTA3 was so revolutionary at the time, all three games were huge for the time (and still are), they featured great stories as well, but most importantly the were just mindless fun.

5.Metroid Prime Trilogy - Metroid Prime 1,2,3 - Metroid Prime 1 was one of the best games of Gen 6 and of all time, MEtroid Prime 3 showed what Wii Motion controls can do and MEtroid Prime 2 was great in it's own sense. An epic ~80 hour adventure.

4.Batman Arkham (ROCKSTEADY) Trilogy - The Batman Arkham games showed how good Batman and Comic Book Games in general an be, Arkham City is Quite possibly my favorite PS3 game ever and Arkham Knight being one of the best current-gen games.

3. Uncharted Trilogy - Yes Uncharted 4 is going to release soon, but for now it is a trilogy ( and I know some would count the Vita version, but I do not count it with the console ones, sue me ). Some of the best games of the past gen, great cinematic scenes, fantastic action scenes, all around great games.

2. Halo Trilogy - Halo:CE, 2 and 3 - Yes there is a Halo 4, but it originally was planned as a trilogy only, Halo CE to this day is one of the most revolutionary FPS games on consoles ( along with Goldeneye 007), Halo 2 made online gaming popular on consoles and Halo 3 while not as revolutionary as the first 2, still didn't drop in quality at all.

And number 1..

Final Fantasy XIII trilogy - The story of Lightning, one of the most epic stories and trilogies of all time, with great gameplay in each iteration, fantastic music score, there is nothing better than this trilogy out there...

Just kidding, the real nubmer 1 is:

Mass Effect Trilogy - Mass Effect 1,2,3 - One of the best Sci-Fi universes ever ( including movies, shows etc - in my opinion ofcourse), this trilogy had amazing characters and alien species all with fantastic back stories, the trilogy as a whole had an amazing story, yes it had "that" ending ( although I enjoyed it, but I agree it could have been better ,  but let's leave that discussion for some other time). You geniunely felt for everyone in the games, the music score was fantasic, the graphics on 2 and 3 were great, this not only ranks as my favorite trilogy, but it's also up there as my favorite series.

There might be a debate if all those listed there count as a trilogy, and also if I missed any then maybe for me personally I did not consider them a trilogy.

Please let me know what your favorite trilogies are, it doesn't need to be a top 10, and let me know which ones I missed!

5. Zelda Toon Link trilogy (WW, PH, ST)

6. Donkey Kong Country SNES Trilogy

7. Kirby Dreamland trilogy

Donkey Kong Country (SNES)

Mega Man X1-X3 (SNES)

Crash Bandicoot (PS1)

Spyro the Dragon (PS1)

Super Mario Bros. (NES)

5. Max Payne trilogy: Max Payne's unique Bullet time and Shootdodge mechanics, the deep story, the gloomy settings and bombastic set it apart from other TPS.

4. GTA III trilogy: GTA III was a revolutionary game, and Vice City and San Andreas heavily improved. The games were damn fun, had lots of content and provided a story like no other when they came out. However GTA III and Vice City don't hold up well anymore in the modern era, while San Andreas is a lot of fun even now.

3. Uncharted trilogy: A fantastic adventure with great characters and story, humour and cool set-pieces. The level design is great and gameplay is also great, but story and characterisation are top-notch.

2. Assassin's Creed Ezio Trilogy: Ezio is one of the best protagonists in any game, with a personlaity like few others. The game's have fantastic design and offer hours and hours of content, with a very interesting and uniquely altered take on history. The atmosphere in the Italian cities is also really wonderful, and the trilogy has one of the best endings ever.

1. God Of War trilogy: the most epic action games, God Of War trilogy games are all so good, you can't really pick one over the other. All of them offer an intense, enjoyable romp of blood, sex and thrilling action that makes your jaw drop. The series is so consistent that you really can't love one and hate the other. A masterpiece from Santa Monica, and I can't wait for God Of War IV.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Only trilogy I played is the Prime trilogy.

Hmm... Dragon Quest 4-6 is a trilogy (I forget its name, the Zenithin trilogy or something similar to that)
