Forums - Movies & TV - Jurassic World was absolute garbage

Yeah I was very disappointed too. This and 3 are the worse

Agree.

It was a fun movie, no doubt about it, but awful.

Acting and direction was dreadful. Zero tension or peril in the movie.

There were some well thought out nods to the original and casting was mostly good too.

Ya ok.

The movie is not an instant classic but it was fun and enjoyable. Much much better than most action oriented summer movies.

add me, the more the merrier.

It wasn't garbage, but it wasn't very good either. I certainly don't think it deserves to be breaking box office records left and right. But then again, Transformers movies make a billion every time too, and Avatar was shit (though at least it tried to tell an environmental message so I'll give it that, even if Fern Gully did it better). So there's clearly an audience for vacuous stuff that is pure visual spectacle and not much else.

I liked it better than the Transformers movies or drek like that. Enjoyed it more than the second Avengers too to be honest (that just felt forgettable).

No JW is not a perfect blockbuster, it has a long list of flaws, but what I think it *did* get right is it's a sequel TO Jurassic Park, not just "a Jurassic Park" sequel.

Let me explain the difference ... this movie is a direct love letter to fans of the first film and wisely plays to nostalgia, while taking the basic idea and expanding upon it in some ways.

The Lost World, JP3 felt very different from the first Jurassic Park.

I loved the movie. It has a great, very nostalgic look and feel (65mm and 35mm film), loads of good humor, great characters (including the kids you so despise) and the quality of production design in lieu with the great blockbuster classics.

Yep, it sucks but its still better than Terminator Genisys.

People like to find what's wrong with the movie looking to make some sense out of it... It's fiction, it doesn't have to make sense people.

Enjoy it for what it is goddamnit.

PS: I didn't watch the movie.

Actually, it does. There's a reason why people don't like plot holes.

I am thoroughly surprised that there are people who liked it. It was outright dumb. And so predictable too. It is the worst movie I have seen in the cinema in the past few years.

Completely disagree.  The best writers and directors know that even highly fictional material still needs to make sense within the logic of the universe where it is presented.  Otherwise, immersion can be broken or, even worse, people will stop caring about what they're seeing if it becomes a vat of nonsense.  (Some) People want to understand what they're seeing in context.  If the content doesn't even follow its own internal logic then there is a disconnect.
