Im definitely interested in the NX i keep hearing that its a fusion but what is it supposed to be a console or handheld i think console but i also think even Nintendo doesnt know what its supposed to be.

First with the Wii Nintendo wanted to appeal to a more casual audience and it was a huge success even bigger than they could ever dream of but then with WiiU they wanted the hardcore audience back and they failed so damn hard and now Nintendo is planning to go mobile to convince casual gamers with their free to play games to go ahead and buy a NX for more casual games? or hardcore games?

So they want to appeal back to casuals to then make those same casuals hardcore players

OR

Their true intention is to have us hardcore players go download their f2p mobile games and waste monehh on their free 2 play mobile games essentially... Turning us into casual gamers!?!?

Pretty good idea.

It will sell more than DS, so, definitive a succes if you ask me imo.

Well you certainly have a very well informed opinion.

If Nintendo doesn't pull a wiiu, then yes

In Japan, once those smart phone games and browser games start flooding in, definitely. In the west ... I don't know. Nintendo fans will buy it, without doubt, regardless of what is being said recently, but I don't think it will bring much else to the table.

NX is a home console, that's why Metroid has a better chance of being on NX than Wii U.

If they make it powerful, get 3rd parties, have a solid launch line up as well as a lineup in general, then it will do well. If they target casuals for the most part, I will never trust Nintendo ever again and they'll hopefully go broke 6 years later.

bet: lost

It is a bit too early to tell, but I'm leaning towards "kinda, but more like no".

Iwata/Miyamoto are good people, but they're too far out of touch from the industry, and that's the fundamental problem that will cripple the NX.

They and their design team will end up making a bunch of stupid decisions with the design of the machine. And they probably don't have some Wiimote like miracle to bail them out of those decisions.

That and I think their handheld marketshare will continue to shrink and they really don't have an answer to that.

I could be wrong but that's just how I feel right now. It's not so much that the idea couldn't be a success it's just that I've lost confidence in Iwata and his board of directors being able to execute it as a success.

yes................but it will depend how much

i think Nintendo has finally learnt and come off age and also embraced they are weak as just a gaming company its todays world where conglomerates rule

So i expect NX and handheld and Nintendo Mobile to go all out make a Unified System and add Android to it and make it big with all its franchises

They will also learn and make Adult hardcore franchises not just kid stuff

they could also stun with a SONY or SAMSUNG or APPLE partnership

It could be a success, or an absolute failure. It`s too hard to say which way it will lean to. We don`t have any info to go on. If the console is great with good marketing and games, it could be a success. We`ll have to wait and see.

The Wii U was an attempt to bring the hard-core back? I don't think so... Not after release, nor have they attempted to try.

I know that was the original intention before they lowered the CPU clock speed and ended up screwing the 3rd parties over and their games couldn't run on their console anymore. We were lucky we even got a crappy version of Watch Dogs... :/

I hope Nintendo realises that their next console needs to pack a punch power wise. They have the best first party games in the industry, but unfortunately we live in a world where 3rd parties continue to become more and more dominate as games take longer to develop. They need to go after the marketplace to convince more gamers to buy their consoles and consistently buy more games. The most important factor is to have more software (preferably high quality) to continue moving both hardware and software with a high attach rate.
