Just because the game is Japanese doesn't mean it will flop. This appeals to a western audience too.

And the reason they believe the source is because he said that MS would unbundle the Kinect? Well gosh, he surely was the only person to ever say that.

Let's say something this silly did happen.

Kojima and Del Toro wouldn't be the ones making it. So, it'd be like MGS: Rising --> Rising Revengeance. A completely different game developed by completely different people. In part, no one would care about it

Also, they trust the source because he "called" that MS would unbundle Kinect....in June after E3?! When everyone was fermenting at the mouth about not only DRM, but wanting Kinect removal? Somebody on Mars could have seen the Kinect removal, even as early as June 2013. That may be the worst reason to trust a source ever.

I'm somewhat skeptical. I can't imagine why they'd spend 'billions' on the Silent Hill IP when that money could easily fund a dozen new AAA IP.

Still, assuming the cost part is wrong (or MS is just silly), i'd rather someone buy it up than Konami leave it to rot.

Their source for the rumour claims that Microsoft is trying to buy the Silent Hill IP from Konami because of Konami's recent shift to mobile. However, Konami just released this statement:

Konami’s statement continued to explain that, in addition to mobile gaming, “the Metal Gear and Silent Hill series, both beloved by countless fans around the globe, are also extremely important to Konami. We have nurtured them with care over many years since their inception, and will continue to produce products for both franchises, but we are not currently at a stage where we can announce the path these future titles will take.”

So, it looks like a no.
