The average for a AAA is usually about 40-50. Some have more or less than that though. Indies usually have about 20 at max, often quite a bit less if they have a few silvers/golds.

Congratz on your first 1000.

I do like trophies, they aren't super important, but I like looking at the list every so often to see how many I got and remind myself of the games that I played that I may have forgotten about.

I would have over 4000 by now if I hadn't made a new account when I got a new PS3 in 2013. But on my new one, I have only just passed 2000.

It's crazy how many trophies and plats some people in the trophy thread have managed to get.

I used to be heavy into trophy hunting when I first got my PS3, up until around 2 years ago or so, but once I started working a little bit more heavily, that went out the window. Of course, that trophy hunting period was also when I used to rent games from Gamefly.

Congrats. Have just under 3,000 on my first account and 27 platinum. Sadly i abandoned it this past December. I'm doing well though. 964 trophies and 11 platinum in just under 6 months.
