So I finally got around to playing Shovel Knight on my my portable indie device, Vita.

So... its an okay game. I can appriciate taking ideas from old games and making something actually tolerable from them. But I don't get the hype. Its probably the most forumlaic game I've ever seen get this much praise. I feel like the only thing I really enjoyed about it was holding down to bounce on enemies. Without that the game would fall apart!

This game is like a 3/5 in my opinion. I mean its a somewhat enjoyable experience if you haven't gotten bored of being knocked of platforms yet.

 

On a side note, fuck this game. Rogue Legacy is better.

YAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!!!!!  I was so excited for Shovel Knight but it was rather average tbh. Rogue Legacy was amazing and I wish I had put more time into it.

I bought it a couple weeks ago and would somewhat agree, I mean I did like the game overall since I used to play a lot of the original Megaman games when I was a kid but it's certainly not a 85 (PC) or 88 (Wii U) out of a hundred.

Also NG+ was way too frustrating at times and some of the trophies are kinda ridiculously hard (but that's not really something one should hold against the game).

That's the thing, I'm surprised how average Shovel Knight is. That doesn't make it a bad game, it just felt like a by numbers platformer.

I thought Shove Knight was great. I love the challenge, level design and retro look to the game.
