Forums - Gaming Discussion - I've come to realize that the "Souls" games and Bloodborne are terrible games...

What challenge level are you playing at on Witcher 3?

Death March. I'm going for the Platinum. It's not the difficulty of Bloodborne that puts me off though. I like that it's difficult. I'm a trophy hunter and I always play games on the hardest level. It's that it feels like the devs blast you back so far after a death just to add to gameplay length. That's the frustration.

You do know you can speed run to the boss right? kill it and you will open a new checkpoint. It's even more central and from there, you can open several short-cut gates and all you're problems are over. you don't need to kill anyone to progress, you can skip it unless if you wanna level up which is a good idea.
The game is a bit of a drag in the beginning, but as soon as you beat the first 2-3 bosses the game will turn into a blast. I play Witcher 3 at the hardest level, and the frustration was even more real then bloodborne so i doubt it that you did, but i give you the benefit of doubt

But isn't frustration relative? Also, why would I want to just run past everything when leveling up is integral to surviving in this game?

You must hate Megaman with a passion

Nope. Love it. Again, it's not Bloodborne's difficulty that's off-putting. You guys all seem to think these games are the only difficult games in existence.

It's just that you pretty much described Megaman lol

Your just didn't get the whole idea of the Game. That's ok, it's not for everybody.

Also: Git gud. :P

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

I like the Souls games and the Witcher series. Oh, lucky me.

Yes, by all means.
But still, these games aren't terrible at all. You didn't quite get the grasp of it and don't seem to like the genre, that's all. Huge difference.

LOVE the genre actually. That's why I keep trying the games hoping to like them.

If you love the genre than can you even describe it? Because to me it sounds like you clearly do not like the genre.

A warrior keeps death on the mind from the moment of their first breath to the moment of their last.

Terrible? Wait a sec.... Yup, still says terrible. I mean, there can probably be raised quite a few complaints etc. some of them objective, some of them subjective, but terrible?

Yes, if you like them. Souls 2, Blood, and the Witcher are all very long games. Keeps the fun going.

Now, Bloodborne. Bloodborne looked promising. I'm thinking that after disliking Demons Souls and Dark Souls I & II I'd actually like a game from From. NOPE!!! Same knocks: No atmosphere, lame character creation, brown/grey colors, crappy textures, and stiff characters. I put it a good amout of play time into the game and after about 20 minutes and at least 20-25 baddies killed I'm bested by a huge guy with a brick and some demon dogs. Well, guess what? Right back to the beginning. This was probably the first time ever that I've appreciated that little beep the PS4 makes when it turns off.

No atmosphere.

With all the respect that you deserve sir.... ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME???

like many users have said in this thread that is a straight up LIE!, a disgusting LIE...

everything in Bloodborne from the clothes that you are wearing, the map design, the architecture of the city, the world, the music, the monster designs and even the weapons, everything is filled with a GOTHIC VICTORIAN ATMOSPHERE....

are you going to tell me there is no atmosphere in here:

just look at the fucking city you are in:

lame character creation

the same character creation that lets you tweak EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of your character? the one in which i spent 4 hours creating my character? the one thas so indeepth that you can even make the joker in it???

i havent played every game with a create a character feature out there, so there might some with more options but saying the create a character feature in Bloodborne is lame, is as much of a lie as saying that is has not atmosphere.

brown/grey colors

the game take place in gothic atmosphere, of course its going to be dark, and since you are never going to get past the first area on the game i might as well show you that the games atmosphere and tone changes throught the game, since its stops being so dark after a while:

look DAYTIME, LIGHT... colors that you would have seen if you got past the very first area of the game...

and after a while things get more "colorful" when the world goes to shit.

crappy textures

this might not be The Order 1886 in terms of graphics, but saying this game has "crappy textures" is also a LIE, the blood in this game looks amazing same goes for the leather, the metal/steel of your weapons, and the furr of the creatures, the sparks your guns and weapons do whe you use them or transform them and everything else in the world looks good,  it might not be the best looking game in terms of graphics out there, but saying it has crappy textures is beyond truth... just another of your LIES.

Look at the reflection in the metal of the scythe and the gun, and the furr of the werewolves

look at the leather of his clothes, look at the furr of the boss:

look at the spark, the dust, the fire, the leather clothes and the blood in the clothes of the "witches"

look at the blood

heck, when the blood touches the ground it looks like "dried blood" as it should look

i can understand you not liking the game, its atmosphere, its gameplay mechanics etc... but i wont tolerate LIES.

Thank you. I had the platinum and only been doing pvp, but I want more of this. This design, this look and feel, the story, the darkness. This game looks and plays so good. Anyone can see that those who played it and enjoy this design style really adored this game and want more and more and more. People are actually greatly looking forward for a DLC/Expansion.

Graphics are what it is, just a part of a game and not the game itself. I was very hesitant in playing Dark Souls games, but when I saw Bloodborne I just fell in love with how it looks. The Blood starved beast screaming on the trailer and the witches laughing. The colors. I don't like to see blood particuraly anywhere but even on Bloodborne it looks great.

Masterpieces like this one should have its quality stated as a fact. There are good things in this world, it is not about how many people enjoy it, there are simply things that should be factually good. Maybe a person doesn't like it, sure, its not his style, but he has to attest its quality because things that are well done should be respected.
