Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony "Nailed It" With PS4 and Deserves "Victory" Over Xbox One, Ex-EA CEO Says

^ I also agree with this. I remember Sony's attitude towards gaming around the turn of the PS2/PS3, Nintendo's attitude mid-late Wii era, and Microsoft's around the turn of the 360/XO. When one company starts doing too well, they usually end up becoming complacent or cocky. I can already see that happening with PS4.

I think the industry is best off with all three companies (Sony/MS/Nintendo) doing similarly well to each other. It keeps 'em working for our approval, which is how it should be.

It's pretty obvious why its winning, it was prophesied in John 3:16.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Sony PS4, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

And it works both ways I don't see that being a driving factor in th ps4's lead at all honestly.

Yes it does, it works more in PS4's favor because more bought a PS4 in the beginning.

A lot of my friends people I know bought an Xbone over PS4 due to controller form factor. 5 over 2 that went PS4. The controller had nothing to due with the other two. They just like PlayStation brand, regardless of any factors.

7 is a lot? It's not a lot even in Liechtenstein...

And both companies sold A LOT more than 7 consoles to some anecdotal people that may or may not exist...

It's not simple math when thers so many factors involved that could heavily or slightly skew results and we don't know the metrics for those type of things in any accurate sense.

And your point that eldued to me thinking a gen was in a short span was in the post after I could have posted about it?

Factors you are using to avoid the reality of the subject.

The fact is it is basic math.

Sony and MS sold similar numbers of PS4/XB1 in launch year.

PS4 outsold XB1 every month till November, and every montb Globally to date.

Yes there are many factors that determine why each are selling the way they are, but it is impossible for XB1 to catch up by matching PS4 sales, which is more measurable then saying "they are doing everything Sony is doing", since that is an opinion that does not correlate with reality.

And on a side note, the reasons the PS4 is consistently outselling the XB1 are obvious, you can shout that they are identical all you want but reality seems to think otherwise.

Wouldn't it be easier to just say Sony never deserves it? They just win by default regardless of what Nintendo or Microsoft does? PS1, PS2, PS3, and now PS4 thrashed the competiton simply because.

The PS3? I'm not sure we're reading the same number. Ironic considering the Wii, unless you just forgot about it?

Don't make me bring out Stephen Hawkins to school you again. XD

@Aeolus. Sony is a strong brand. It proved itself a market leader with the PS1 and PS2. However, the PS2 sold a lot in its infancy much due to its DVD capability, not its games. There was nothing really to play on the PS2 at launch unless you enjoyed Fantavision and The Bouncer.

The list of PS4 games posted proves my point, there is nothing considerable Sony is doing games-wise to have won this kind of favor. Without an added benefit of something like DVD-replayability in the PS2 days, this victory we see here may possibly be short-lived because imho it rests on nothing more than brand confidence. The biggest thing going for the PS4 right now is that it has better hardware and a reasonable price-value ratio. However over the span of the generation I'm not sure this will go so far. Microsoft is capable of giving Sony a difficult fight as was seen last gen, so again I don't know if this current wave of sales is fully deserved and more importantly fully sustainable.

It is also important to note that your argument falls short with the Vita. The Vita is a Sony console, under the Playstation brand. It did not win by default and it did not win without the games, mind you it was expected to come out on top given the PSP's decent performance. After all, this was only Sony's 2nd handheld.

Obvious sarcasm, should be obvious. I wouldn't have thrown in the blantanty false PS3 elsewise.

I just love this "Deserve it" bullshit, some people are spouting. In November and December, they where cheering that MS worked so hard and they Deserve their sales, but nobody ever said Sony desevered fixing there mistakes and tying 2nd Globally with PS4, or doing everything right with PS4 launch to reap the benefits. The ridiculousness of saying a company deserve's sales is downright insane levels of indoctrination,

For me, it is all about consistency,  but these guys are spinning like plane turbines.

That "by a nose" comment was obviously globally in the US.

Even that would be a Mr. Burns nose... 15% is not a insignificant amount.

What would you say about the people who were hopping on tier 2 and china?

There is nothing to say. The Xbox is a system aimed at the needs of the american market. It does not carry the same type of appeal outside of it.

If Microsoft is really serious about winning globally, they need to rebrand and broaden their software focus. Though in Japan, whatever they do seems like a lost cause. Still, if they are serious, they need to be willing to take those losses. They were in the right track with the 360, but then they gave up. That RPG wave at the beggining of the 360's life was super significant. If they had kept on with it, the X1 would have had a chance.

Theres also a different idea. wich is to create alliances in the japanese market. Say SEGA for example shouldnt be very expensive. Carry that SEGA name into the console instead of Microsoft and call it something different than Xbox. Sales already got better.

I wouldnt say 'nailed it' rather than 'not rocking the boat'.

The PS4 is just the next sequential Playstation, while Xbone and Wii U tried to be different and was looked badly upon.
