Forums - Sony Discussion - Killzone: Shadow Fall 1080p lawsuit settled under undisclosed terms

A class action lawsuit accusing Sony Computer Entertainment America of deceptively marketing Killzone: Shadow Fall's resolution has been dismissed, Courthouse News reports.

The lawsuit, which was filed by US resident Douglas Ladore last year, was allegedly settled yesterday, although the terms of the settlement have not been publicly disclosed. Both parties must pay their own costs.

Ladore's initial lawsuit took issue with Sony advertising the game as featuring native 1080p graphics, when in fact the multiplayer used a technique called temporal reprojection to "reconstruct a full 1080p image".

"If native means that every part of the pipeline is 1080p then this technique is not native," developer Guerrilla Games said last year.

Lol. They deserve it and others need to be sued as well. These type of false promises have crossed the limit.

That was a silly lawsuit.

I dont understand, let's say sony were found guilty. Who would get the money? Would it be this random legal company or would it be the purchasers of the game?

How can a legal company sue for anything more than a price of a game say $60? They made no other financial loss?

Anyway good it was dismissed. Who actually bought a game for full 1080p graphics? You bought the game for the game, with the graphics being an additional incentive.

The only winner is the lawyers.

That's pretty dumb. Game looked great. Makes me want to play it again. Pixel count

Yep.  It wasn't even fully under 1080p since it used an advanced process that made it like a turbo-charged 1080i.  Silly people complain about anything...

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

First world problems...The guy suing must lead an exciting life.

I imagine the judge didnt understand crap when he got that lawsuit and the title is "Game falsely claims to be 1080p when in fact on multiplayer mode its 1080i with some shenanengas to achieve non native 1080p"

I don't think there's anything wrong with someone simply complaining about it, Sony should have been more transparent from the start, but the lawsuit is rather silly...

What i really don't understand though is why GG didn't boast about it. A technique that allows you to create an approximate 1080p IQ while also boosting your frame-rate by a significant amount is exactly the kind of thing console games should be embracing. It could do with some refining (particularly the predictive algorithm), but it would be a great compromise for many games.
