The last one was Yoshi's Story on the N64 in 1998, three generations ago.

For a company with a reputation for milking their brands, Nintendo sure has a thing for putting franchises on ice for extended periods.

By the same token it's been 9 years since the last Starfox, (10 years on consoles) 11 years since the last F-Zero... (12 years on consoles)

Then there's Kid Icarus, which was dormant for 26 years.

Interesting, never realized that myself either...

Yeah, and I'm also excited that Good Feel is working on it, same guys who developed Wario Land: Shake It! and Kirby's Epic Yarn. Personally I'm all for them developing the game over Arzest, who developed Yoshi's Island DS and Yoshi's New Island.

Really can't wait to play the game, and I do love the game's cuddly aesthetic. :3

I can't believe this never crossed my mind.

17 years, wow. When I see the numbers like that, it is kind of interesting why Nintendo gets the "rehash" label slapped on them so often. There have only been 4 Yoshi games in the last 17 years since Yoshi's Story.

I want that yarn yoshi amiibo but alas, Nintendo stock will be T_T

Yeah, I really enjoyed their work on Kirby's Epic Yarn and can't wait to revisit the series after so long, and in what looks to be thermonuclear levels of visual cuteness.

And it looks to be the best Yoshi game in 17 years, also. Maybe even the best Yoshi game period.

Yoshi's Island was released in 1997. What I really want to know is how the voice actor for Yoshi does what he does
