Your story praise is subjective. A number of reviews, maybe no the majority however critique the story, especially its ending. Characters and dialogue is done fairly well, but the story was very predictable. A lot more could have been done with the lore/setting.

Maybe they're not rushing, but playing normally and you're playing slowly.

looks like a solid 7/10, that's not a bad thing. People were expecting more that's for sure.

Yeah the story after chapter 11 is pretty poor. The didn't even bother mentioning  anything about other important characters for the sake of end the story in 1.5 hours.

It's a good game, will probably take the same amount of time to plat as Second Son. If I was poor or a child who only gets a couple games a year, a 15 hour game would look like a ripoff, and then there are those who hate exclusives, linear games, and cinematic games...the hate shouldn't be surprising. Oh, and those "not a review" previews surely didn't help.

the ambivalence, enjoyment, and critique of the story are all subjective.
the majority of reviewers are a tiny fraction of gamers.
like I said, we will see how it pans out with the lifetime sales.

My prediction of more Bloodborne threads than the order is looking bad! I should have done more order threads than Bloodborne after Bloodborne comes out!

To answer you question yes, we do need a billion. 

I think the reviews say more about the changes in the reviewing system and the change in perception this gen. Barely 2-3 years ago, a game like The Order would likely averaged around 8/10. With a new gen however, the expectations have increased and reviewers are far more harsh in their critique.
