Forums - Gaming Discussion - Pessino: I just blame ourselves for not communicating our vision of the Order 1886

I wanted to post this article to defend the game. It really doesn't deserve all the shit it's been getting.

"There’s been a lot of controversy around The Order: 1886, Ready at Dawn‘s PlayStation 4 exclusive due for release on February 20 worldwide. Co-Founder and CTO Andrea Pessino expressed an interesting position in a video interview with Game’s Princess; as the interview is in Italian language, we’ve translated the relevant bits.

"I just have to blame ourselves. In some way, it’s obvious that we’re not communicating our intentions…It may be a lack of our ability to communicate our vision.

It seems like everyone is trying to find, not a problem but rather dishonesty, it seems like we’re trying to hide something. I thought we had been very clear since the very beginning, about what we were trying to do.

Originally, they didn’t even believe that the first trailer was real. Then it was about the frame rate, a couple polygons here and there…I don’t know exactly how this works or how it can be done better, everyone has different expectations and wants a different game and our game can’t give everyone what they want. It’s rather unique and specific. I think some people will have a great and fantastic reaction [to The Order: 1886], others will hate it deeply.

I just hope that in the future we’ll manage to be more clear in the way we present what we’re doing, so that everyone can make up their mind and at the same time, have a little faith that what we’re saying is true."

It looks like Pessino thinks that Ready at Dawn and Sony Computer Entertainment could have perhaps conveyed what The Order: 1886 is in a better, more precise way. Still, recently many games have been under similar scrutiny, so I’m not entirely sure that it’s just a problem of communication – it may very well be a problem of expectations. What do you think?"

Stop complaining about the game, enjoy it for what it is. Stop drinking the haterade.

I think they communicated it just fine, people just didn't want to listen or wanted to weave their own narrative no matter what.

Well, they never hid what the game was going to be.

A SP story-driven Third Person Shooter with a cinematic approach. And that's what the game seems to be. So yeah, they shouldn't blame themselves.

Fanboys aren't the smartest, and clickbait articles writers aren't exactly geniuses either. So they all went for the clicks and destroyed the game because it's an AAA exclusive.

People chose to hate it, without even having actual reasons to hate it.

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

The "shit" is not going to end, and not right now when the reviews are almost here... just enjoy the journey.

Too much crying coming from these guys, I know it must suck to have your work slammed, but that is the business they are in.

It is one of the most uninteresting games on PS4 along with Knack. for me.

I played FMV games in the 90's. It just sounds like the same kinda game. Watch 90% of it. Play 10% it with little to no room to actually play other than point gun shoot bad guy til the next cutscene.

I feel quite sorry for the game. It doesn't deserve the hate its getting. It may not be a great game but Ready at Dawn still worked hard making it.

I did too, in fact i played Daedalus Encounter recently.

They're not alike in any way, shape or form. The Order is like Uncharted/TLOU, pure and simple.

All developers work hard but you are still making a product for the public for entertainment purposes which means it is fair game for critisism. If they can't take it then they don't belong in the entertainment business. Doesn't matter if warranted or unwarranted. That comes with the territory either way.
