Forums - Gaming Discussion - When will PS4 have a price cut?

If the XBO, with its new $349 price, starts to pick up in the slower months, then I expect one at E3. By then, Sony will definitely be able get costs down to make a small profit on the PS4 HW at $349, if they don't already.

Depends on sales. If they are able to keep up with MS in the US (they don't even need to sell more, just about the same) I say not before next year. If X1 really pulls ahead, a little earlier, probably around October with an announcement at gamescom.

The rest of world is in the bag anyway, so in europe, asia and australia, I think we'll have to wait a looooooong time for price cut. Especially in europe with the current deflation going on.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Guys look at the NPD. The PS4 sold 1 million units even though the Xbox One was cheaper, The lead is over 600k.. It retained the overall lead and chances are it will still probably win January. It would take months for Microsoft just to break even... so the best strategy is to keep the price up to get the profits, and hold out for a few more months. Microsoft will not be passing Sony in the US anytime soon. They might as well make as much money as possible.

PS4 won't have a pricecut in all 2015 (at least official by Sony) and will sell even better than in 2014.

If everyone of us expect PS4 to sell better this year, why would you cut the price of PS4 if you were Sony??? I won't, and considering Sony didn't cut PS3 price either in ages I don't expect Sony going for sales numbers instead of profits with PS4 neither.

Probably fall of this year $399 to $349. Sony doesn't have much of reason to cut the price right now. Especially with Microsoft bringing the the xbox one back to $399. Although right now Sony is bundling The last of us with every ps4.

Sony might start including TLOU in all the bundles too. For me that is the only thing I would consider a 'reaction' to the XB1 price drop.

The PS5 Exists.

I honestly expect them to keep the $399 with a game bundled. Why drop the price, when you're console is still selling like hotcakes. It makes little sense.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

I would say by the end of this year it will be $300 or maybe $350 if the sales are up a lot YoY.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

Yea, I think it will get a price cut around October-November cause with the x1 being back to $399. There is no real reason for Sony to cut the price till then

Actually XB1 is dropping back down to $349 as of January 16th in the US, but agree on the timing October/November area probaly to $379.

PS4 doesn't need a price drop. It's crushing Xbone.
