Forums - Nintendo Discussion - No Charger Included!? Seriously!?

This whole "it's to save existing customers a few bucks" is bs, I'm an existing customer, I want to trade in my current system to shave off the price of the damn unit to actually save myself those bucks by a bit more, instead I can't do that because I'd have to hand in my charger, get a small amount shaved off and then afterwards give them that bit more for the damn charger, why the hell is it perfectly understandable for them to require your charger but you can't require one with their new unit?, it's completely bat shit insane to defend such an illogical stance.

If they require your current charger in roder to check if the unit you traded in is legit then that's their job to do, they supply chargers and they should have their own in store to boot, that's their problem, it should never be a customer issue and they shouldn't be required to be put into one to benefit a company or store.

now i can at least see why the small new 3DS isn't coming here but this right here is stupid and anticonsumer and i was really hoping NoA would never take this really dumb idea from NoJ and NoE

It's funny seeing some people that I know for a fact are against DLC's and other stuff say "it only costs x amount who cares" This is actually a lot worse than DLC since you actually need the charger to use the device, but you don't need DLC's. Or "why are people who aren't even planning on buying it complaining?" while they comment on threads of remakes and remasters complaining that there are too many of them. Try to stay consistent people.

My personal opinion on this is that it's stupid. A charger is an essential piece for the hardware to work, it should be included in the package. Not a deal breaker though.

Welcome to the world of Double Standards lol. It runs rampant in these forums.

Do people genuinely think Nintendo are doing this because they are just being generous to their customers by saving them money? You people are really gullible. Stop giving Nintendo free excuses. They just want to save on money and get extra profit off selling chargers. It's a really greedy move.

Absolutely ridiculous. When I was reading a summary of the direct I actually thought it was typo when It said the "New 3DS would come without a charger". I mean does that make any sense?! That's like selling PS4 or XOne without the power cord. Like you literally cant play it without charging it! I have no idea what Nintendo was thinking and its bound to cause a lot of headaches for store's customer services teams.

fixed XD

Some really weak excuses in here.  People need to really ask themselves if this is something that isn't a big deal or if they are just trying to defend Nintendo.  Cause if you truly think this isn't a big deal, then I guess ALL companies should just stop being so generous and no longer include a power cord when we buy a gaming system or any other piece of technology.  I mean, you can just buy one online for a few bucks.  Sure, you may have to wait a week or so, but whatever.  Or go to a store and just pay $5-$10 for one.  Quit whining.  As long as my company of choice gets to save a whole dollar or two.

They are thinking $199 looks a lot better than $219 (or however much the charger costs their)
Plus they are saving money of current owners of one so really its best for the consumer.
Is it that hard to grab a charger too if you need it??

You're kidding me right? Both those excuses are weak. If you think a simple plastic charger is worth $20 then you're insane. And this isn't doing previous owners any favours. There are people out there who would like having more than one charger.

Right, and I plan on selling/trading in my 3ds, so i couldnn't keep the charger even if i wanted to.

PS4 controllers don't have a cable included either.......that's different though since there's one included with the system itself and it can be charged with just about any smartphone charger.

Don't you mean a regular usb cord?
