Forums - Sony Discussion - PlayStation Now Subscription Pricing Brings In Mixed Reactions From Users

People are always gonna bitch about something. no matter how unreasonable their bitching is.

Gamefly is $15 a month for its basic service but you can only rent 1 game at a time. that's also $180/yr.

yet Sony doing the exact same thing while offerring a service that you can play any number of games simultaneously, that will ultimately let you play on multiple devices and that you don't have to wait for shipping is somehow too expensive.

And what I don't get about those even saying $180/year is expensive; its a bloody service. No one is holding a gun to your head saying you should pay every single month.

All I want to know, is how in the world is it OK for gamefly to cost $15/month but PSnow is deemed expensive while being an all round better service.

It's not quite good enough for me yet, but as the service expands and the list of available titles (and hopefully platforms) increases, it's definitely something i'll be interested in signing up for.

The reactions I've seen have been mostly positive though, especially from those who have never owned and PS3 (thus will benefit the most from this service). If i didn't own a PS3 i'd happily pay for $45 for 3 months of access to exclusives TLOU, R&C, GOW, Killzone, Sly, inFamous, Uncharted etc. Would save this hypothetical me a lot of money.

Game streaming scares me.

If thus came as part of the PS+ service at no additional cost it'd be worth it. As a stand alone this is way inferior to EA's Access and not worth the extra price.

It was always going to bring a mixed reaction unless it was ridiculously cheap.

So you believe it's not worth it since you don't got 100+ PS3 titles and the monthly 'free' PS+ games for $40 a year?

I agree the service needs work (though its incredibly well priced for those that don't own a PS3), but you're being a tad ridiculous here.

Sony isn't forcing you to buy a subscription. If you don't want it, don't buy it. Right now, there isn't enough content to warrant a subscription, Maybe later...

pls. I really don't get this. at $20 a month for unlimited access to any number of games they have on the service I don't understand what the problem is. especially when u consider at some point all you will need is a TV/device compatible with a DS4 and you can play all those games.

Lastly, why has no one complained abt services like gamefly that you pay $15/month but can only rent 1 game at a time and wait for the game to be shipped to you. with PSnow if u want to play 10 games simultaneously you can.

This is because the gaming community is one of the most entitled bunches out there. They expect everything to basically be handed to them when they want and how they want. You see it every day.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I think it´s fair pricing, but they should include PS+ in the price.

What would the point of that? PSNow does not require a console in order to use it.

A person using a tablet and/or TV would have no need for PS+. People are looking at this service the wrong way. They are looking at it as current PS3 and/or PS4 owners.

Gamefly gives access to 10 different systems including the next gen systems, and new release games.  Compared to that, PSNow is a bit limited, even if the streaming is convenient.
