Nothing. It's not like either one is an always-online console...

If you look at the PSN and XBL cards in the store, what do they say? They say 12 months for $XX.XX. If you're paying for 12 months and only get a total of 11, then imo, you are entitled to an extra month, free of charge.

And don't give me that small print BS either. Judges decide what is legal and what isn't... not small print that is tucked away somewhere so no one will see it.

Even if it was several days for PSN, it is not Sony's fault.

It doesn't matter WHO'S fault it is. If you're paying upfront for a product or service that is not being provided, then it's on the company providing it to... you know... provide it.

I shouldn't pay for 12 months of something, only get end up getting 11 1/2.

2 days of additional PS Plus for subscribers and perhaps other subscription based services. Outside of that no one is entitled anything.

Extend all current PS+/XBL accounts by 1-week and extend all holiday PSN/XBL sales for anyone who may have missed out on them due to the service issues.

Nothing more is needed.

This seems completely reasonable.

With regards to compensation for missing service though, what did you agree to when you clicked OK on the terms and conditions?  Was there any guarantee of 24/7 service?  I'd be very surprised if they didn't have a clause covering planned and unplanned outages and downtime.

My feeling is that because both got hit it's less likely that any 'compensation' will be forthcoming.

It's easy to say "Gimme! Gimme!" during times like this but really. Look through some of your old game cases. There's a few free weeks of XBL in there somewhere. Look in your PS4 box and redeem that free month of PS+.

They really can't give us compensation for something such as a DDoS attack. I doubt there's any way to block one for the long term.

Not legally entitled to anything.

PSN and XBL go offline for routine maintenance on a scheduled basis; this is unscheduled downtime as a result of a deliberate attack.

If either company wanted to be a dear or foster better consumer/company relations, they could extend sales that were inaccessible during the outage and or extend existing PSN+/XBLG for the corresponding days, but the reality is extending a subscription service by 2 or 3 days whenever there is an outage of the same duration isn't going to appease anyone.

Not sure about XBL, but on most reedem code in game cases I saw for my PS games it said only for customers who never signed for PS+

I've just updated the thread with SCEs decision to give 5 days of PS+ to PS+ subscribers and a 10 percent discount code good for a one-time discount off a total cart purchase in the PlayStation Store as a thank you to ALL PSN members.
