There is a very good reason for not having online multiplayer: network latency.

Finely tuned platformers, such a s Mario, require very precise timing which wouldn't be posible over a network.

You already have a Ghost data battle, and we know Nintendo don't bring a chat to multiplayer. So, what is different between no-chat online multi-player and Ghost data battle?

I mean, if you buy a game specifically for online mp, you've missed the point of the game entirely.

Guess we'll all be missing the point of Splatton then!

You can't interact with ghost data and ghost data can't interact with you or the level. Mario Kart would be so dumb if the online was only ghost races.

I think that's a bogus argument. Plenty of other games have online play and suffer from occasional latency issues. That doesn't mean that they're not still fun to play online. I'm not saying to remove the single player or offline multiplayer, just to add the function for those that would like to use it.

You'd be free to refrain from playing online if you were worried about latency messing up your game.

That's the thing. And 3D World was a game so built with multiplayer in mind. I would probably still be playing that game if there was online included.

I absolutely hate what online capability has done to the gaming industry. Multiplier should by no means be an expected standard or review scores lowered for a game that lacks it(except racers). of course imho.

It should definitely be an option. You will always have both, local (which is the ideal way) and online in case you are far apart, simple.

It's baffling that they don't have online. It can't take too damn long just to make it happen.

Yes I would like the option, but I don't think it's needed. I look at how many games these days are ruined by online experiences (E.G. Watch_Dogs, Sure even if you take out the online the game still had bugs, but if they spent less time on online they could have worked out more bugs)

Before online multiplayer folks get their turn, I think all of us are entitled to getting some actual good music again in the 2D platformers. They should at least get as much attention as the music for the eShop does...
