Yeah, I'm starting to think that there's something else going on here.

For one, how did NK know to hack Sony pictures in the first place over the movie?

what though?

the hack leaks are obviosuly real and damaging.

but this isnt in line with hacking....

Personally, I think there are three possibilities.
1. This is all virally manufactured. Previously informed parties over specific remarks, fake social security numbers.
2. This was done by a previous Sony Pictures employee. Possibly a database admin who was fired.
3. This is an outside group that just happened to stumble upon these vulnerablities, and are pretending to be NK for lulz.

According to some security expert, the hack was done with knowledge of Sony's internal architecture (Something I myself said was the most likely scenario over a week ago). So this more than likely originated within Sony. The question is who and why.

The answer to many problems is usually to simply 'follow the money'.
Out of everything I haven't seen any legitimate reports of people losing identities. I've seen some "scandolous emails", and some movies were leaked...but I can't say for sure whether anyone has actually been damaged in this.

Apparently movies are srs business

ffs. this is getting very silly. Death threats to people watching a fictional movie!!!?? I get why some could see it as bad taste and yes even very disrespectful, but this is way over the top.

The class actions were inevitable though... and more will follow. Sony Pictures is actually in a world of trouble right now.

A world of trouble? Not really. Yeah, there will be some lawsuits, but there have been companies in dire straits just like this....Wal-Mart, JP Morgan, Target etc. All of them are fine. Aside from some people having to protect their identities (which is no laughing matter), the vast majority of this is embarrassing but not particularly damaging. I don't see their films suffering; which movie is produced by which studio means nothing to the average moviegoer. And this is Hollywood; grudges mean nothing when a studio agrees to your 200 million dollar movie.

Sony is a multi-billion dollar conglomerate, of which Sony Pictures makes up only 10%. However, SPE is very profitable and successful; that's not gonna change. Sony Pictures will recover, as industry analysts expect them to (Google it), and life will continue. Anyone who thinks this will end either Sony or SPE doesn't have a firm grasp on reality.

You said you "get" why "some" could do that.

This has nothing to do with the company and everything to do with shitty leaders like Kim Jong-un and his ilk. North-Korea's issues have been completely ignored for too long imo. They need an intervention. Also, I'm calm as a feather.

It makes sense when you consider that whenever Kowen's post contain Sony in comparison to something else, he is required to spin them negatively. What you have here is one of those rare case where denouncing Sony would mean praising North Korea. Thus you get this cognitive dissonance where he simultaneous insults North Korea and supports there actions at the same time. Suggesting that there plight is understandable, since its Sony, the great evil of the world, being attacked.

Lastly, he includes the Red Herring, a true but slightly off topic fact, since the topic isn't about Sony Pictures being sued but rather The threat elevating to national security level as GOP is threating a terrorist attack, in order to seem more authoritative while also denouncing Sony as well.

It's pretty obvious.

With all due respect... this goes beyond Sony. This was a threat against anyone who goes to see the movie.

How awful that they made a disrespectful film about fucking North Korea's leader. Awful leaders don't deserve respect and even more enabling than they already get.

excuse me?  did you see where I put "some" in that post.

read!

and calm down.  I doubt youd be this angry if it was Universal. wow.

From a previous thread, I offered you an olive branch of peace by apologizing for a possible misinterpretion of your intentions.  But you on the other hand are accusing Ninsect of potentially turning a blind eye to this if the company were other than Sony not knowing his intentions.  We'll maybe you wouldn't be harking so much on the company in question if it weren't Sony.  And we all know why.

I have to wonder whether the hackers aren't some third party who are just trolling. They're making the posing as North Korea a bit too on the nose.
