Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Bayo 2 is A BIG sucess!!!

Success!? Bwahahahahah .... I love the game and it's definitely among the best hack and slash titles I've played, but I extracted nothing (remotely) related to "success" from the reading - at least not with respect to sales.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

As long as they are happy about it while not losing money, thats all I need to hear

Nintendo is the publisher, so they're the ones who eaten the loss.

Depends on the deal really. In some situations, the game has to sell at least $X before the developers see a penny, while in others the whole thing is bought and paid for in advance, with the publisher collecting the entire amount afterwards. If Platinum is pleased with the sales performance, I suspect it's because we're looking at something closer to the latter than the former.

the devs got their normal salary while developing the game, they get extra payments from sales if a certain threshold of sales/revenue/profit is generated

Excellent. Nintendo's strategy with this game has been brilliant. Fantastic 3rd party games to supplement their stellar 1st party stuff is a winning formula. Nintendo should really consider making Platinum a 2nd party developer. Platinum wants it and their games are always among the best.

I know some would consider the game a failure, but it did wonders for the Wii U library. Add in other games from developers like Monolith Softs Xenoblade Chronicles X and its further proof that Nintendo isn't afraid to take risks on a quality developer. I really look forward to Bayonetta 3.

Um, buddy? Monolith is Nintendo.

So what is success then?

I know it got rave reviews, even better than the first one. I wish it had been released on the Xbox. Bayonetta is my favorite action game of all time, despite how silly and disjointed the story was. Having said that, and as much as I would love to get Bayo2, no game for me is worth having to buy a console for it. I just do not care for Nintendo and haven't since the N64.

Open your eyes to multiple console gaming. It serisouly is the best thing ever. Once I did that i didn't worry about arguing about rock textures or frame rates or resolution as I had a choice to get the best version for me.

Just like to point out Monolith is a part of Nintendo, has been for years.  Xenoblade is as first party as Mario.  But yeah, good news for Platinum.  Also the game will probably still break even; the budget for it probably wasn't all that high, Nintendo is pretty careful about that'. As for enough to justify Bayonetta 3...we'all have to wait and see.

on a 8 million user base and considering the genre of course its a succes.

stop the bitching.

It's close to 500,000 sold, and that is amazing for a mature Wii U game that's EXCLUSIVE. I am for sure getting it for Christmas :D

Success! Good job PLatinum/Nintendo.

That´s really big news, it will be awesome if they release Bayonetta 3 as an exclusive too, and seems very posssible.
