Forums - Sales Discussion - NPD Is More Important Than It Should Be

Because it represents like half of all console sales. Even moreso around this time of year.

The US is the most important market and the centre of the world so yes, NPD is very important. Stop downplaying it.

Wow, just wow.

NPD is more important than ever this generation, especially for VGC. It's the only place for sales fun while WW is the no fun zone where PS4 wins everytime. Even PS fanboys should have tired arms by now for clapping every week for the PS4 win.

Everyone who's looking for some excitement is looking at US numbers because that's the only place where you can even make predictions anymore that could potentially fail.

The US is the biggest market right now for video games.

Europe is more important and a bigger market for video games throughout the year. The US is one of the biggest markets for video games.

Europe is not a market, it's a continent. The Americas are a bigger market then than Europe. Even with 2 and a half times the population of the US, Europe is BARELY bigger than the US market alone.

More sales are generated from europe for the majority of the year. That's the biggest market for video games therefore it's more important.  It doesn't matter how you define europe or how it's compared to the states.

Wait... What?  Since when?  How is it that the North American market sold like 40 million more consoles last gen then Europe if it is a smaller market?

There's actual competition in the US and UK versus a total beat down elsewhere,

I'm talking about this console generation. It seems like more people are buying video games in the world versus last gen.

Centre of the world? How? The location is actually pretty bad with respect to the rest of the world.
