Forums - Microsoft Discussion - What's Up With The Loser Mentality for XBO (Coming from a sports player)?

I get what you're going for, and you did well to word it as carefully as you did, though it's still ruffling feathers. Businesses are indeed more nuanced than that.

I like how you have to PROVE to us you are not a fanboy, like anybody really gives a damn or you're scared of people on the internet. Just state your opinion mate.

OT: You gotta pick your battles. Who knows? A strong holiday and keeping the "limited" price drop may create real momentum and turn the tides, as unlikely as that may sound.

Don't act like if he didn't prove he owned an X1 that people would just accuse him of being a fanboy. I've seen it happen time and time again on forums.

It shouldn't matter to him and it would only shine a light on those petty enough to chastise him for stating his take on it.

It would also derail the topic because that's all that would be said. Then he would have to reply to those people and mention he has an xbox one and give out his GT. He's elimated all those post/arguemnts with the very first post. Shining a light on all those people probably isn't the reason he created this topic so that would be pointless to him.

This is nothing like being on a sports team, no one here is on the xbox team at Microsoft.  People here have no control over which console sells better.

Are you serious? MS may be "losing" sales wise to Sony but we as gamers we win because of all the effort they put in their games. Frankly I like what Xbox is offering more than what others have to offer game wise. I think it's more the bad winner mentality that should be questionned (from all sides that is)

I've been doing sports all my life and if you couldn't cheer up after a victory, no wonder you lost all year long.

You can't be serious.  My teams didn't lose all year long, and youve been doing competive sports and you were celebrating hard after one win during a losing streak? yeah right. But this thread isn't about liking one more, its about sales and sales only and why Xbox ONLY fans are so happy about potentially winning US.

I guess the question would be if people who own an Xbox really care so much about winning a sales war or just being happy that the X1 is selling good.  In the long run, what exactly do a consumer win if the X1 is selling the most consoles.  Is it bragging rights where you can tell someone that a Corporation sold more of a product designed to take your money over another.  I really do not see the point where it really matter who is the leader in console sales compared to what each console provide for its userbase.

Also from your OP you are making assumptions that people who might enjoy that the X1 can take Nov and Dec which are huge months in sales for consoles believe that the PS4 will continue to enjoy a sales lead come January.  Nothing is set in stone and MS might continue with the 50 dollar difference if its successful.

On the last point, why would anyone from the US care if the X1 doesn't sell great in Japan.  Yes, the X1 probably will not win globally but then again that’s an issue for MS to solve.  Winning in the 2 biggest markets is probably something MS is striving for the most then concentrate on the other territories.

As a X1 owner, I like it when MS is on the bottom fighting then when they are on the Top.  As a PS4 owner, I would prefer if Sony was fighting on the bottom instead of being on top but Sony has earned the right to be on top so I am comfortable with them there for now.  As a consumer I need MS to stay competitive and Sony not to get to far ahead because it benefits me the most because each will do what it takes to increase their install base and make their customers happy.  If MS falls behind to much they probably quite, if Sony gets to far ahead they go back to old Sony which is not something I want at all.

XB1 selling more consoles is actually something XB1 users should really really want. If XB1 was in the postition that Sony is they could buy third party excsluives for cheaper and since that is something that xbox loves to do it would happen more. Sony doesn't like doing things like that so the benefit of them being ahead doesn't really help Sony users.

MS does not work that way.  When MS in on the ToP they think about pushing more things that make them money not what customers want.  When MS is on the bottom they think about what pushes more product then making money.  Actually this is not exclusive to MS its pretty much any corporation.  What I have seen with the many years I have mature is that Both Sony and MS are better for consumers when they are fighting for the top then if either are on the top.

As for what Sony likes and does not like to do, I believe you are drinking the koolaid.  Sony when they had the money to throw around was more than happy to pay for exclusive deals.  When your money is tight you cannot try brute force techniques like that anymore and Sony is definitely in no position to go on show like that against MS.  Now if you said Nintendo I would agree.

I think that the small/short win can hopefully lead into something bigger.

If you think about last gen where PS3 was losing to 360 for many straight years, but then look at the results of it now.

PS3 still losing US?

PS3 barely even with 360 as the rest of the world made up its LTD?

Momentum has to be reversed, not momentarily delayed.

I disagree MS was doing the samething last gen even when they were on top. Sony used to do it but I don't think they want to do that anymore they've changed the way they operate not because of money but because they want to be more like nintendo. If you look at Sonys exclusives many of them don't even make money so if it was a money issue they wouldn't even be making their own exclusives and new IPs.

This is not a competition between fans. We are happy with the Xbox One because it continues to improve. UI is faster than the 360s now along with more features. And MS has the games on lock

Microsoft has Halo and Forza (the real Forza).  All other games are overrated or average.  I think it has been a lock in gaming circles that Sony has at least higher quality exclusives (since better is subjective).

And this is how you know he takes this shit wayyyyy to serious. This thread is a joke

You are an American like me right? You are aware of GM right? I've had run-ins with people/fanboys who a far more obnoxious than the people here and I will tell you what you are describing as the loser mentality does not apply to Xbox fans because even though the Xbox may be struggling in the rest of the world, the company who is backing it (Microsoft) isn't. I remember GM fans celebrating on the GMI forums that the Silverado outsold the Camry [even] while GM was getting its teeth kicked in everywhere else and the company was falling apart. [All they would focus on is the Silverado's sales]. When GM went bankrupt, they all scattered like roaches and vanished from the internet only to resurface after the bailout. Again, look at the big picture and you will see that it is Sony fans who have the loser mentality, because Sony is more than just Playstation. Keep in mind that this is coming from somebody who has absolutely no interest whatsoever in Xbox.

If you you refuse the look the big picture and cant see the forest for the trees, then you are a fanboy that cant be helped. ;).

Except for the fact that being a fan of PS or XB doesn't neccesarilly make you a fan of the parent company. Granted I don't agree with the OP cause he is taking this whole thing too seriously, cause you know, Sony and Microsoft[to a degree] doesn't do gaming and don't compete with each other, their subsidiaries do.

Not to mention this is not Sony Vs Microsoft, its PlayStation Vs Xbox which is entirely different. The only reason "some people" make it about Sony v Microsoft, is because they can't deal with PS vs Xbox, and MS automatically wins Sony v MS and there is virtually zero possiblity of reversal

It also completly disregards the fact that, hey you know, MS Xbox One is still losing to Sony PS4, despite the financials.

The only big picture when it comes to gaming is how games are concered, MS vs Sony is irrelevant, as long as Sony has enough money to support the brand they could lose more billions and only Sony fans would give a damn. Going outside of the scopes just to support one brand over another is fanboyism, hell any attempt to discredit a brand just to support the one you like is the definition of fanboyism.
