Well of course.  But 3DS shipmnet are half of the same quarter last year.  Its actually quite bad.

Shipments are down because they had an overshipped Q3 2013, and we have new hardware lined up for Q4 in NA/EU, they had no reason to ship more than they thought would sell or clear the channels. If they hadn't overshipped Q3 2013 and no hardware refresh, we'd have likely seen much more consistent quarters.

Because Nintendo is only giving the numbers given to retailers. Not sold to consumer

Because Nintendo is talking shipped, VGC has more sold to consumers than have been phsically made ....

So Nintendo made a win at Q2. Pretty good, now the holidays will make sure the whole fiskal year is a win. I think they are on a good way. Even if the WiiU won't top 25 Mio, as long as they make a profit, it's not that bad.

i dont see how vgc has it at more? i mean a just under month ago they had shipped 7.29 million wii u's right? so lets say that they have shipped another few hundred k through october that would be 7.5-6 wiis shipped. Question is how many sat on shelves i guess. but hey atleast they in profit.

They have it at 7.29 shipped while VGC has it at 7.35 sold to consumers for Oct 4. There were still Wii U's on shelves so there's obvious overtracking.

The big takeaway from this gen that I think Nintendo is going to take to heart is that their next handheld is going to have to be able to scale in cost quickly so that it can quickly make a profit and they are going to need much stronger software (ahem, Mario Galaxy 3 and Animal Crossing) ready for the first 6 months within launch to have a strong launch.

If they can do that with "4DS/Fusion" they should be able to make good money next gen too at least for a few years. They still probably need to start lowering their software prices at some point on portable software because I think $40 portable games are going to become a no-go at some point.
