Forums - Gaming Discussion - Destiny 42 Days Later

So Destiny was hyped to all get out, then the reviews more or less panned it. So what is the view on the game a month and a half after release.

I still play it all the time. I am over 200 hours total and love it still. I have an unopened Shadow of Mordor waiting for when I get tired of this game, and I dont know when that will be.

My take? I have played Diablo 2, Wow, GW2, FF14 and other games that have massive replay value and non of them were this fun still after release. The reviewers had no clue what exactly they were review and thus did not grade it correctly. Destiny is its own animal, and if you review compare to other games you will just confuse yourself.

I am getting to the point that I want to get tired of Destiny so I can play Driveclub, Shadow of Mordor, and other games coming out soon but I can't it is still so much fun.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Got to level 26, and had absolutely no desire to grind the same daily missions, public events, patrols etc... just for the outside chance of receiving 2-3 light points and inch closer to 27.
Especially since I figured out that to do so, I need to scavenge 73 helium filaments, 86 spirit blooms and an unspecified amount of ascendant materials.

Spend several hours to advance 1% in the game, I did not see any point in wasting my time with so many good games (and better games than Destiny) waiting in line.

Played Peggle 2 for the past week, and had tons more fun than shooting at a Spider Walker for umpillionth time.

Playing Alien Isolation by myself, Evil Within with my wife.... Destiny is a thing of the past, will never return to it, and I definitely will not be buying any expansions...

I stopped playing it a while ago. Most disappointing game I've ever played in my life.

It have next to none variety. Unlike does other games you listed.

Destiny? oh yeah.

Not a fan of the leveling system for 20+

I will come back in a few months and see how it has gotten better or worse, i have some hope bungie will get it right sooner than later.

love it. still play it when ever i can honestly. dont know how much time i have in it but easily over 30+ hours. i am level 26 now and really getting the hang of things, specially in crucible which is super fun.

I think Destiny is going to be awarded Most Disappointing Game of the Year. There will also be a Destiny Most Disappointing Game of the Year Edition.

I booted it up about a week ago and tried playing a little. I didn't even finish a mission, I can't even force myself to play any further. 40+ hours and I'm done.

I won't go back until there are some noteworthy updates or I can get the DLC cheap. There are other games I rather spend the time with.

I have to save money for Black Friday so I'm still playing it until MCC comes. Have a level 29 Titan, 28 Hunter and 28 Warlock.

Still no new content though. Its so repetitive you end up learning some of Dinklebot's lines by heart.

"Not to alarm you, but I'm tracking the sword from the light of the Guardians it's killed"
"The Sword is here...I can feel its power.
"We've woken the hive!!"
*public event pops* "What is that?" *starts* "I guess we're doing this thing"/"I've got your back"

I still go back to it fairly regularly. I actually find it's quite an easy game to just pick up and play rather than something I'll delve into with any real heart. There's not enough depth to the majority of the game for that.

It's quite easy to just jump into a daily mission, complete a couple of bounties, play a Strike or just some PVP. So when I have a spare bit of time and need something relatively mindless, I'll jump in.

Really?

Diablo 2? I loved it, but it was essentially Taco Baal runs for the endgame.

WoW/FF14 have more to do, but most of it is not fun unless you are just really into crafting, if you farm dungeons and raids (what I do in those types of games) you would have nothing to complain about in destiny.

GW2 is the only one that did something I have not seen replicated. World vrs World was amazing. I played that for months. The problem with GW2 was that was all there was really left to do for endgame (I did get Sunrise, and again if you had the patience to farm for a legendary in that game you should have no issues in Destiny)
