Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Upcoming Wii U exclusive Football game, Madmen Football, 1st screenshots and footage

That's hilarious. I enjoyed that they have character models but no movement animations yet.

Fair play for what they're doing in theory. It just seems like WiiU is becoming a bit of a dumping ground for zero-quality cheap indie games lately (*cough*memerunner*cough*)

What the ass is this?! O_O

Am I alone in hating "N64 type visuals"? The fifth generation just has not aged well at all to me.

Anyway, while this looks atrocious at the moment, it does bring to mind an old favorite of mine that I wish got another chance, Mutant League Football.

I was expecting a different kind of sports.

Anyway that's atrocious. That's something you would find on XBL Indies for a dollar (and even there exist better games for said price).

No, the review scores/quality would be the reason.

Development on scalebound has been going in parallel with Bayonetta 2. As long as the projects are funded they can hire more people. Platinum actually has a good track record of released games. Havent they released Metal gear rising, W101 and Bayonetta 2 in the space of a year(and that Anachy reigns game shortly before)? I think they are bigger than you think. Either that or very efficient.

With that said, what would be the point of putting more producers and directors, artists in a project that already has them? They are obviously gonna be put on a new project.

Review scores don't mean squat in the real world ...

Do you have any proof that development on Scalebound has been in parallel with Bayonetta 2 ? If my memory serves me correctly it only got announced at E3 this year without any ingame footage to boot ... If anything Scalebound has hardly been in any sort of meaningful development apart from conceptualization and making that trailer. The thing is Platinum games used to have more employees to be able to pull off faster game releases but now they went from 300 people to 170.

Cause the game has yet to be in full scale production ?

Hmm... and do you have prove that it wasnt in parallel production? From that point of view we are both speculating as we have no way of knowing.

The number of employees is directly proportional to the number of projects funded. The fact that they reduced tells me they have less projects funded. Its not surprising given that namco and SEGA seemed to have dropped them and i am unsure if Konami is interested in Rising 2 after all the trouble they went through.

What we can tell is that Platinum showed interest in making Bayonetta 3. If they showed interest, its because they want to make it. If someone funds it, they will. Its all up to Nintendo, and in Nintendo's house it all comes down to quallity + sales. Xenoblade for example, wasnt a huge seller, but its quality was enough for Nintendo to buy the studio and fund a sequal.

Nintendo owned the studio long before Xenoblade was even made.

I'll buy it. If its as crazy as I think it will be it will be fun. Oh and bayonetta 3 will depend on the games sales. Any game sequel usually depends on sales. EA, Activision and Ubisoft would be doing everything in their power to bring games to Wii U if they are guaranteed 3 million sales at launch prices.

Sadly, most of their games aren't even worth the launch price.  They fund these massive budget sequels, that bring nothing new to gaming, and usually it takes away from gaming.  All for what?  A pretty piece of art?

I have been going back to some old PS2 and PS1 games, because of the drought in games this year, and the sheer varity in titles, and even within a game itself, is refreshing.  I wish studios would focus more on game design, then trying (and failing) at making everything look 100% realistic.

That has to be a joke, for real, it has to. I refuse to believe anything otherwise.

I was expecting football. Came in to the thread and saw Americaball. The disappointment is real

I was expecting atleast a game.  I came in and saw nothing but garbage.  Hopefully they can turn it into something, but for now, I think it is a gag video.

Did I just watch a PowerPoint slideshow? That video was hilarious for all of the wrong reasons. I remember reading about this guy earlier in the year. He'd be much better off making a Tecmo Super Bowl clone. I wouldn't be the only one interested in that, and it would look a helluva lot better than his "Retro N64 graphics" excuse.

This leads up full circle on why you assume the Bayonetta 2 team would get merged into scalebound when positions are doubled and therefore wouldnt be able to work on Bayonetta 3. Its obvious they have different development teams because theres no way the game was just on-hold for 4 months after beeing announced. I dont think Microsoft would be very satisfied with that development.

How would you know that when both teams were busy making games to release this year for their respective publishers ? The deal that Platinum Games made with Microsoft was obviously very late when you consider that the studio was prioritized first with The Legend of Korra from Activision before Scalebound with Microsoft despite both of the games being announced at E3.

Scalebound doesn't even have a release date yet! It's as if Microsoft was expecting that once both teams were finished with their respective games that they'd be both moving on to developing Scalebound ...

I love how you say "how would you know". How would you know? It goes both ways you know. My logic is sound. You can't deny it since you dont know and legend of Korra is a small game. The thing here is we have no idea how they are shuffling their resources internally in terms of programming, but we can tell what is announced wich are producers and directors.
