Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why does Hyrule Warriors get praised when Dynasty Warriors does not?

I think it has everything to do with Hyrule Warriors being a Wii U exclusive. Nintendo fans hyped it up a lot as it had Zelda characters, but it got mediocre reviews. Still I see Nintendo fans praising this game.

But since its essentially just another DW game, shouldn't that series be praised by them as well? I guess not because its a PlayStation exclusive.

I guess HW went through Nintendo quality assurance which makes a huge difference.

More so that it is a really good game, and Dynasty Warriors is not as loved as Zelda.

But Wii U exclusive helps a well.

But the game is just another Dynasty Warriors game, so maybe you should praise those games as well. Besides reviews claim otherwise.

Agree with the rest

I hope you don't actually believe this.

Praise? It has only garnered lukewarm feelings from critics.

It's a Dynasty Warriors game with a Zelda coat of paint.

Theory: This is going to be the introduction many Nintendo players would have with Dynasty Warriors. As such, they think that this is the best game they can experience, partially because this is the only DW game they've played, and partially because it has Zelda on it.

Long story short, Koei Tecmo found a Blue Ocean. A third-party crossover with a first-party Nintendo IP (See: Pokémon Conquest)

Have you considered that a lot of Nintendo fans don't own Sony systems, and have probably never played another Dynasty Warriors game before, and therefore are not in any position to praise them?

Maybe Sony fans should make a little more noise about how much they like Dynasty Warriors. Otherwise, I might start to think the series would be better off on Nintendo platforms where the audience is more appreciative.

Well... Its mostly cause the game is ment to cater to the fans and it did! It did so very well vs Dynasty warriors is just the same thing over and over with new characters. Sure, some fans are a bit overboard with it but the sales prove that not everyone is zomfg about it

Yeah, it was rushed through a ridiculously short dev cycle, I believe. Also, the amount of DLC, and the stuttering in certain conditions. Also, 30fps in asymmetrical local multiplayer.

Because Warriors games are like CoD. You like the first few games you play, but after that it's just more of the same. Now, since a lot of people who normally don't buy warriors games bought this because of the Zelda brand, they'll like this, and maybe the next two warriors games they buy.
