Forums - Gaming Discussion - Forbes: Retail Hallucinations And The Pointlessness Of Owning A PlayStation 4 or Xbox One

Oh forbes.... I think a few people there know that sensationalist articles like these will get a lot of hits. So they put them up so they can show their bosses later how they their article has generated this or that much traffic; the boss all the while being completely clueless to the message or context of the article.

Soooooo... he isn't able to afford a new console so he tries to justify his decision to sell the console by convincing himself that the change isn't big enough.

Got it.

Nicely written article. I agree with the author on most points. It's early in the gen but I've never seen such a small leap before.

interesting article, thanks for posting!
During the transition stage, the argument works. But it won't really hold up as well when developers stop supporting last gen.

For the sake of consoles I hope you're right.

is there a tl:dr version?

He says he could have afford it but he didn't want it so instead of giving it to someone else who would want it, he decides to take it back to the store and somehow that puts him on a moral high ground. He is also delusional if he thinks we all share his future door mentality when we bought our consoles. I wanted the PS4, I evaluated it and I came to the conclusion that this is the device I wanted for the next gen of gaming. As developers move on, I am moving with them. There are games I want that I can't get on older consoles. Developers want shorter console life cycles because they want never tech to create bigger, more artistic projects.

He is a victim of consumerism. You don't have to buy a damn thing. If you don't have the mental fortitude not to purchase something you don't really want or need, your issues are more deeply rooted and beyond the scope of the PS4 and Xbox 360. Seek help.

Garbage writing. How many piece can be written about "I can barely notice the difference so they are pointless."? People do notice otherwise they wouldn't buy it. He also tries to justify his opinion by using Destiny, an originally xbox 360 game.

If you want next gen consoles, buy it; if you don't want it, don't. Simple as that.

I have to agree with this article as of right now. It doesn't help when the most appealing product on the ps4 is TLOU and on xbox one MCC, both remasters of games from older generations.

I assume that you're talking for yourself there, correct?
