Forums - Gaming - Forbes: Retail Hallucinations And The Pointlessness Of Owning A PlayStation 4 or Xbox One

such a bad article. so short sighted.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I dunno they have a fair point but they has been no generation quite like this one. I think the new consoles are enough of an upgrade but it seems its getting to a point where the technology can't quite make the leap it used to. As adoption has been very slow by customers and developers.

I guess they aren't worth it. I didn't feel like a ps4 was necessary yet but it's here now so. My PS3 still gets far more play though and will continue to if PS3 versions are going to remain £20 cheaper than the same thing on PS4.

Maybe next year or the year after this feeling will be different

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

yup it really is pointless to buy a ps4 if you have a ps3. the ps3's share button is awesome, and has great party chat. Second son also looks exactly the same. In fact the PS3 grows extra cells so that it can display all these new games at 1080p, and will continue to do so for years to come..

By mentioning a share button, party chat, infamous ss, and the fact you can play most PS4 games on PS3 - just not at 1080p, you're agreeing with the article writer and proving his point. Though I suspect you were trying to do the opposite...

I have to agree with this article as of right now. It doesn't help when the most appealing product on the ps4 is TLOU and on xbox one MCC, both remasters of games from older generations.

I assume that you're talking for yourself there, correct?

Myself and a significant amount of people. It doesn't matter if you don't see it that way but a lot of people do which is still worrying.

But it seems that many more find the PS4 appealing, looking at how it is selling.

Lol noob.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are the first game consoles designed for no purpose other than to keep consumers from drifting away out of boredom, repackaging boredom with expensive gilding to make it seem like a new thought.

Ouch.

I agree with the article. One of the first things you notice on these new gen consoles is that they bring nothing new gaming wise except for better resolution and finer graphics.

Don't buy it?

If you bought a console now, not knowing what being an Early Adopter meant, then I can't even begin to feel sorry for you.

That's like complaining about the lack of fireworks for Independence Day on June 28th.
