Forums - Gaming Discussion - How do you organize Final Fantasy?

Final Fantasy is a strange game series. A game can either be similar to the one before it or be completely different. The fanbases for each game tend to debate which is best and which is worst and why their opinion is justified. However, this is not about that. My question is: How do you organize the FF series? It changes platform, mechanics, etc, all the time and Ive noticed people all organize this series differently.

This is how I see the series:

Classic: 1-6

Modern: 7-15

However Ive seen others seperate it like:

Classic 3: 1-3

Evolved 3: 4-6

"Best" 3: 7-9

Post "Best": 10-15

Or like:

Nintendo 6: 1-6

Classic PS FF: 7-9

Modern PS/XB Era: 10-15

Etc, etc.

What's your take? I'm sure theres many other ways people seperate the series

In my cupboard, one next to the other.

Good to Awesome Shit: FF 1-9
Okay to Terrible Shit: FF 10-14 (excluding MMO's obviously)

But I do like this method

Nintendo: 1-6

Classic PS FF: 7-9

Modern PS/XB Era: 10-15

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

For me the classics are 1-5 with your regular JRPG fantasy setting with FF9 being an hommage to the classics.

With FF6 shit got weird and Square started to innovate even more in all aspects of the game. And that stayed true till today.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

NES Era: 1-3 (The beginning)
SNES Era: 4-6 (Amazing era)
PS Era: 7-9 (More greatness)
PS2 Era: 10-12 (The turning point)
Lightning Era: 13, 13-2, LR:FF (The decline)

How do you organize Final Fantasy? If SE knew the answer to that, they could make good one. :) That last one sucks.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

1 - 3 Classic (Very fun keeps you entertained for hours)

4 -6 Classic perfected (Omg this pixelated game is making me feeeel)

7 - 9 The best of the best can't be beat (Every emotion played like a fiddle and infinite replayability)

10 and 12 Addictive (Story was meh, ok, but my fuck it's fun to play)

Anything above 12 doesn't exist.

I used to refer to them as trilogies relative to their primary platform and gen. So the NES trilogy (1 - 3), SNES trilogy (4 - 6) and the PS1 trilogy (7 to 9). Then FF10 to 12 got a bit wacky because of FF11, but since it still released on the PS2 i stuck with it considered that the PS2 trilogy.

Then FF13 to 15 came along and fucked with everything '_'

i like how enix classified it as old school, golden age and modern era
