TLOU is not the second coming guys. For fuck's sake. It's a god damn stealth game. I give you it's atmospheric and has crafted an intense story and burgeoning character relations. BUT, as a game, it's not fun to play with grinding trial and error sessions and stupidly broken stealth sections.

This is a stealth game, don't kid yourself.

I'd agree with most of the games on the list being there. The ordering tends to be subjective in these lists so I simply ignore it.

It's also a case of how do you rate older games? Many of the old greats that made the Top 10 like FFVII, OoT and even Goldeneye, are mechanically horrible to play now, so balancing old school nostalgia with objective rating is very difficult to do.

I think the best way to do that is to balance impact at the time (measured by general critical reception, not necessarily metacritic since it didn't exist for a while, and sales to a lesser degree) with an objective scoring of the game as it holds up today.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Terrible list IMO.

Bioshock 1 and Infinite beat TLOU in terms of story and characterizations. It's also more fun to play and doesn't force you to use stealth.

Super Mario Galaxy is number 71??!!  Fuck this! >_>

I remember it was your method for the Top 50 games last year (and it was definitely a good way to do it). I think the problem is that if you give a lot of older games to younger (relatively speaking) hands today, they'd simply get frustrated for a whole range of issues.

There's something rather devestating about having your once favorite game mechanically and objectively put down by a younger generation gamer.

well....at least majora's mask is higher than wind waker.

BTW it seems the list was made by someone who has started gaming after 2000.

Or maybe someone who isn't stuck in the past..

Or made by someone who doesn't know video games.... Empire magazine, lol.

We all do it to a certain extent, lol. My first game was Super Mario 64, and so it took me a long time to acquire a taste for 2D games.

Don't agree with TLOU as number one, or even top 5. Also loved RDR but don't see it as a top 10 game.
