Would be nuts if the fuckers were crazy nuff to cut price this year, PS4 could maul the comp to 90% market share.

But by this they'd be losing money/profit. By now there is no need to cut the price as market share alone doesn't necessarily bring you more money or the same money you get while making profits with the same price. Therefore you have guys in your company who know about financials and don't care only about marketshare.

With most oroducts that would be completely true..  Consoles most steady income comes from software royalties though.  The industry is finite with its potential buyers so grabbing as many people this early in the gen (the biggest spenders on software)  is extremely vital down the road. In 4 years when only  casuals and new kids with a lower spending amount  buy these systems it is still the people who buy it now that will be the main target demographic. 1 gta and a cod every year isnt nearly as important as those who have already bought double digit titles and will contine to shell out coin for the rest of the gen...  Get people inside the ecosystem now at all costs i say

Would they be though, x sales per unit add whatever % buys Plus add what little loss if any on hardware and voila they can or cant.

They already said they will aggressively persue increasing PS4 user base, it would fit what they see as a road map for the PS4.

Hilarious is that it actaully could happen, and the sales slaughter would be epic to witness.

You'd get a nice buzz off that wouldn't you? ;)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Not surprising. I don't think there should be a price cut for at least another year. Its selling so well at $399 so they should try to keep increasing their profit margins. A price cut should around mid 2015.

agreed.  Announce at Gamescom 2015 for September.  Then release Uncharted in November or late October.  That's a monster Fall if they hold off.  Then the next price cut would probably be for the slim the following year or the year after, but that's just getting way too into the future for my tastes lol back to the moment at hand

Get Your Portable ID!Lord of Ratchet and Clank

Duke of Playstation Plus

Warden of Platformers

Good, good. Though I don't expect a price drop until next E3 at the earliest.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

price drop incoming!!!!!

I didnt get it. Please elaborate. Thanks.

Well, if I need to increase storage I can just plug a realtively cheap external 3TB HDD into the xbox one... will take about 1 second.

Not that I need to, I manage my storage and very fast internet.

Thats a good option. But to each his own. I cant imagine a HDD plugged in my system all the time. Its looks ugly. I prefer internal storage.

I doubt hes concerned about that

Not surprising. Sony succeded in cutting the cost of the PS3 in record time as well, one of the perks of being a hardware manufacturer first.

what!? lol.

who builds PS4's and who makes the innards of the PS4?

lol

who designs and redesigns it.

Why are you laughing?  Sony design it....  no shit.

He said manufacturer.

Who manufactures it?  I didnt realise Sony had bought Foxconn, Samsung, TI, AMD and others...

I'm assuming he simply misspoke.

Sony is a hardware design / media company. The other two are software designers first and foremost. I think that's the point.

They're going 100% already just to keep up with demand. Why drop the price? lol

They'll be enjoying those profit margins for a while.

This was more an achievement of IBM than from Sony. Like the whole development of CELL.

Yes, the PS3 was nothing more than the Cell. You know your stuff.

Why do you get personal? The CELL was the heart of the system, yes. I don't know why you think and talk in extremes.

Is this a joke, cuz I'm not sure I get it. You're the one talking in extremes saying that Sony's success is due to their hardware suppliers..

Unless you meant to write it like this: (bolded the changes)
That was likely more thanks to IBM than Sony. Like the whole development of the CELL, for instance.

The way you write it, it seems like all the cost savings measures past and current are due to external suppliers, and use one example as concrete proof. I figure you just might've been writing very vaguely. If you wrote it like my correction above, I'd have to agree.

Strange that the all in one system would have so many peripherals attached to it.

Kinect, cable box, dvr, external HDD... Kinda takes the piss out of it doncha think?
