Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why all the Gamestop hate?

I see it quite often on forums that people dislike Gamestop. Even today I saw a member here post that they would rather give their money and buy a digital game instead of a physical copy because they hate Gamestop.

I don't see where this all comes from. Walmart has a new game, $59.97. Target, Sears, Bestbuy, K-Mart, Costco, etc... have a new game, $59.99.

Gamestop has a new game, $59.99.

Gamestop was the one retailer who offered a trade-up program for TLoUR, while Sony and every other retailer just wanted your $50 or offered $10-$15 for a used copy of TLOU (PS3), Gamestop is giving you $25.

Bestbuy: $10

Amazon: $9.84

So seriously, why the hate? Is it because it's the cool thing to do these days? You know, hate on stores dedicated to the hobby you love.

I did work there for 8 years. I understand the hate...

We just generally hate going outside.. talking to people..

*goes to Amazon.com to lonely buy a game...

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I think its cause the employees that work there are all over the place... Like for example, the one I go to, there is this employee thats a giant xbox fan and everytime I go there, he tries to sell an xbox one or an xbox game and etc even though all I want is my wiiU/3ds/ps3 game and I told him many times that I dont want an xbox one. Compare that to say Walmart where they don't really care what you buy and they wont consistently tell u to get another system. Least thats from my experience anyway

whiners be whiners, i find its easy to use them to your benefit. Ill trade two used games get a brand new full priced one and have plenty left over for a preorder. I pay less then any other retailer/online, i win.

I'm wondering why there even are still people buying at gamestop. God gave us the internet and Amazon and thus he spoketh: "Get your damn games online! I'm not inventing all that crazy new technology shit so that you still use your legs to get your games!"

I like picking up a game after leaving work at 2:30 rather than sitting around waiting for the UPS truck to show up between 5:30-6:30pm.

I also have no issues with the workers at my local stores as they seem like nice people.

Someone asks if you're interested in a console you do not have, just say "No thank you". Seems like NiKKom is right and gamers do hate social interaction outside of the house. That and judging by the way many gamers on the forums act, I wonder if it isn't really the store clerks who are the issue. Maybe they are tired of the whiney customers.

Nice misquote, I said I would rather give my money to the publisher/dev than Gamestop. I would much rather spend 2.50/month for a multiple games service than buy a used game for $29.99-$39.99 that I know I wouldn't want for more than a month or 2 anyways.

Socializing is a chore to be honest, I rather ask for my games online and get them delivered so I don't have to talk with those dirty humans.
