Forums - Sony Discussion - The Last of US PS4 vs PS3 Comparison Animated GIF Shows Vast Visual Improvement

Today Sony Computer Entertainment published a new video of The Last of Us Remastered and of course it prompted instant comparisons with the PS3 version of the game.

NeoGAF user Deadly Cyclone took upon himself to provide a convenient comparison GIF showcasing the difference between two versions of the same scene on Sony’s new and old consoles.

You can check it out below (PS3 version on the left and PS4 on the right), and it definitely shows a quite visible difference, especially thanks to the higher resolution. Of course you should click on the picture to enlarge it and start the animation.

The Last of Us Remastered will hit the PS4 just two weeks from now, on July 29th in North America and July 30th in Europe.

Surprise a topic about TLOU and you're here to downplay right away... Could you try skipping that for once?

It doesn't look that vast? All I see is 1080p being 1080p and maybe better lighting?

I hope someone will do a more in depth, side by side comparasion

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Waiting for Naughty Dog to release it on their website instead of the awful Youtube quality.

looks like less depth of field and more blue lighting and slightly sharper everything.

I don't really concern myself with trying to notice the difference between visuals these days, but what I do find interesting is that her jacket bounces a little differently between the two scenes which does seem to indicate that some real effort went into redoing the scene and this isn't just an up-res of the PS3 game.

...

Again, showing nothing but cutsences. Gameplay is a better comparison.
