Forums - Sales Discussion - Nintendo the top publisher among manufacturers

I'd be interested to see a comparison with the 3 big 3rd party publishers. If Nintendo is able to hold a candle or if it's completely dwarfed.

it wont be dwarfed, beside nintendo would easily be in the top 10 (maybe top 5?), while Sony might be in the top 50 (not to sure about where they would be), MS i have no clue

Yep, this is the kind of data that we used on here to make assumptions that Nintendo gamers only buy NIntendo games. While Sony and Microsoft gamers buy from a large variety of third party offerings. Been awhile since I have seen this.

I wonder why anyone would doubt that. Nintendo buyers always bought more Nintendo games than anything else.

As an example, vgchartz has that the Wii sold 918m units total. Per OP, Nintendo's share of that is 396.44m. That's 43%!

Almost 1 in every 2 games sold on the Wii was a Nintendo  game.

Does anyone really doubt that Nintendo can't support a console all by themselves?

That is impressive for Nintendo. I think they can continue to support a console if the handheld subsudizes its existence. If Nintendo made consoles only now I am not so sure it would survive. To me, if the handheld market does not shrink more by their next gen then they can sustain a console like the Wii U and GC, but I am still reluctant to say it will.

Nintendo can support a console all by them selves and make money but it wont come close in HW sales to Sony or MS without a lot of luck like the Wii.
Remember regardless of how much more money the company makes HW sales are king to fanboys.

Yep

That's interesting but not surprising. Nintendo has made better games than Sony and MS ever have.

I thought this was quality-wise.... But yeah, Nintendo has more first party sales than Sony and Microsoft.

For quality, Nintendo has the best first party, Sony for 2nd and 3rd party.

Hot damn, you sir is awesome.

Can I get a source for those data?
