I wonder why anyone would doubt that. Nintendo buyers always bought more Nintendo games than anything else.

As an example, vgchartz has that the Wii sold 918m units total. Per OP, Nintendo's share of that is 396.44m. That's 43%!

Almost 1 in every 2 games sold on the Wii was a Nintendo  game.

Does anyone really doubt that Nintendo can't support a console all by themselves?


That is impressive for Nintendo. I think they can continue to support a console if the handheld subsudizes its existence. If Nintendo made consoles only now I am not so sure it would survive. To me, if the handheld market does not shrink more by their next gen then they can sustain a console like the Wii U and GC, but I am still reluctant to say it will.
