I put more emphasis on the important bits

you should also add in the fact that MS annunced a slowing in production

In all fairness you would expect production to slow down after a launch and from January onwards to be ramped up again around November.

thats comon. what isnt common is admitting in excess stock and announcing plans to slo production till stock is dealt with.

NPD must've been bullshitting us last month, look at dat gap between PS4 and Xbone in America!

LOL

Its funny how vgc changes Vita weekly America numbers the second NPD numbers are revealed, yet stubbornly refuse to reflect that on PS4 and Xbone numbers.

How funny that Vita was 4.8k the week before the NPD numbers.

PS4 still supply constrained?

march 20

"The PlayStation 4 will remain supply constrained worldwide until this summer, PlayStation boss Andrew House told The Wall Street Journal today from the Game Developers Conference. PS4 sales are strong in every region the console is available, he said.

"We're struggling to keep up with demand," House said, noting highest demand is in the US and Europe. "Conservatively, as we get into the early summer months, we'll be closer to a full supply situation."

I can't believe Conception actually sold almost as much as FFXIV...

I assume many of the sales were PS3 upgrades or digital. Theres no reason to own a physical copy of FFXIV. You have to install it to the harddrive regardless. Might aswell free your disc drive for another game.

Horrendous tracking, can't wait for NPD results to show wrong this site is AGAIN. It's like ioi doesn't want this site to be taken seriously.

What is wrong in your opinion? Also, it must be hell on earth to track sales, so, judos for VGchartz

Exactly this. It's a hard job but ioi generally does well. Clearly we aren't going to get precise 100% accurate figures, NPD doesn't even do that, but we do get a rough idea and nobody here can claim to be able to do it any better.

You're not an actual spokesperson for the website are you? If so, this notion is just putting your foot in your mouth.

It is getting to the point that this website is becoming useless fodder for whicher console "wins" the week.

We have famitsu and MC for japan weekly. We have weekly UK sales and we have monthly NPD.

This site tried capitalizing on the facebook, twitter instant satisfaction must know instantly all things NAO, of the this generation and is starting to fail at delivering respectable figures for the US. If the trend continues expect the reputation to decline and people just to rely on MC/Famitsu/UK weekly numbers and wait for NPD because this is becoming a trend.

So guys, do you think XOne is too high or PS4 too low?

Xb one too high. An 11% drop for PS4 is quite believable, but Xb one going up by 2% for no apparent reason, the week after the 17% boost from continued special pricing and Kinect Sports Rivals (with it dropping 80% WoW which is a larger than normal drop (See Titanfall drop of 70% which is normal) so it can't be KSR being a bolt out of the blue killer app) I would have pegged at least a 10% drop for Xb one this week, which would have placed it at ~53K in the USA.

However one possible explanation could be if the special pricing was coming to an end during this week then that could lead to sustained numbers from the previous week as some people rush to pick up Xb one before it goes back up in price, and more than likely a 20-40% drop for w/e 26 April. But I don't know if or when the special pricing in the USA ends so not sure whether this is a viable reason.

I don't believe that there has been a sudden shift in baseline demand towards Xb one this much delayed after TF/temporary price cuts. And a 10K gap in a week where there are no exclusive / console exclusive game launches implies a significant shift in baseline demand.

Or Trials Fusion off XBLA = system seller?

Worldwide is a bit of an overstatement. Anyone can walk off the street and imulse buy a PS4 at any game console retailer here. Our supply constraints ended when we received our mid-Feb shipment and retailers have been getting monthly shipments which meets demand since then. I also don't see how it is possible to be supply constrained if the fabled 1 million per month manufacturing rate is true, PS4 hasn't sold over 1 million worldwide in a month since December. Ain't no way supply is going to be a problem through to summer unless their production rate is below 1 million/month.

The power of Titanfall compelled 60k+ it seems.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
