Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What would you LIKE to see in Zelda U?

Easy question for me.

1. Amazing graphics and art style.
2. Great story/character development.
3. Lots of attention to detial.
5. A hella lot of polish.
6. No motion controls. Great GamePad integration.
7. Link the same age he was in Twilight Princess (A new Link)
8. Linear story progression.
9. Epona.
10. Overworld bigger than Twilight Princess, but has a lot of secrets and content.
11. New combat system that is just as good as Z-Targeting, if not better.

The only one I think might not be possible is #11, but the rest are definitely possible.

-Improved combat.
-More focus in combat.
-A mysterious atmosphere.
-E3 2011 tech demo art-style
-Focus on eploration.
-Awesome dungeons (as always).

Zelda Nights - starring David Hasselhoff as Link.

Openworld/sandbox title:

Grand Theft Triforce: Hyrule City Stories

I'd like to see a title that combines the Zelda universe with the gameplay of the Dynasty Warrors games....

Nah, only kidding!

What I don't get is why a lot of people want a big open world like Skyrim. That's not a Zelda, that's an Elder Scrolls game.

This is a good example (from SuperWatch111):

Well i would like to have the ability to play as a male or female Link (Who is fully customisable). A Massive overworld bigger than Skyrim, filled woth towns and cities, maybe even neighbouring Kingdoms. The ability to romace NPC, the ability to set sexuality(Equality for all) The ability to set your fighting style (range, hand to hand etc). I gotta think of more stuff now :P

That's a combination of Elder Scrolls and Fable. That wouldn't be a Zelda game! (And I'm sorry to single out one person, that was just the comment that sprang to mind, there were plenty of others).

Same as voice acting, it's not an issue to me. Sure, if they included it, it could be quite cool. But that takes away slightly from what a Zelda game is.

Offering a choice between control schemes would be great, I personally liked the controls in Skyward Sword (although the sword directions didn't always work brilliantly), but obviously there needs to be the ability to just use the Gamepad (a la Pikmin 3).

I guess what I'm getting at is that the main thing I want from the next Zelda, is for it be a Zelda, not a copy of Skyrim, or Dark Souls, or; god forbid, Fable.

And where they do deviate in terms of voice acting, or control schemes etc. I want them to give us the option to turn it off.

Side note: I have a name for my fanfiction in OP; A Zelda to the Past....

I want the possibility and freedom to play the game as I wish...However, failing to do certain quests will end up in Link to fail Hyrule, Zelda to die and be sacrified - plus a scene 8/10 minutes to see how the world will became because of you unable to save it. and once you fail, you cannot just start form last save - but re-start the all game.

As you have permanently died.

Switch!!!

Four things for now
1. Optional Motion control sword fight so we can have both and people can stop complaining.

2. An empty over world Map like the original NES. Why? Because Link's first item will be a map. The map will have an easy map making tool that makes designing your map of the over-world on your GamePad easy and fun. If you played Phantom Hourglass and went onto a map-less island that forced you draw a whale then you know this is entirely possible. Especially if the map comes with smart map making features.

3. A port of Four Swords Adventure with online multi-player. We have two screens now. Make it work Nintendo.

4. A pictograph like Windwaker HD.

5. Tingle Tuner

Just thought of another.

A dungeon creator that takes advantage of the GamePad touchscreen. And the ability to share it to other gamers. Most likely won't happen and is one reason why Zelda could be better on a Sony system. *raises flame shield*

Enemies acted very differently in Skyward Sword because of the motion controls: your ability to switch (though realistically, it was an 8-directional thing, not full motion) allowed them to do things with enemies that they could not have done otherwise. Unless you propose controlling the sword with the second control stick in this Zelda, you really have to choose one or the other.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

- Difficulty setting (Or atleast a master quest)

Zelda has gotte 'waaaaay' to easy for the old hardcore gamers.

Well, Aonuma said that Zelda U won't feature any hand-holding, so there's that!

- Amazing art style and graphics
- Great storyline
- A bit more open world, with free roaming
- Someone other than Zelda gets kidnapped by Ganon
- Better upgrades and weapon customization
- Play as more than just one player, maybe swapping characters for certain abilities (switch between playing as Link and Zelda)
