Forums - Gaming Discussion - It seems Elder Scrolls Online is not a succes

What is the difference between Star Wars MMO and Elder Scrolls MMO Digital Sales?

Both came to the PC, the only thing you can say is download was not such a big thing in 2011 but i dont believe this really. And the Xbox One and PS4 Version will be the real test but it have not a hype this game and a lot of People are realy dissapointed by this game.

When Star Wars was not a succes this will not nearly a succes.

There needs to be a ton of digital sales, because based on ESOs budget, this is a terrible first start.

I purchased mine digitally... couldn't be bothered to go out and get it, especially for an MMO. Not had a good boxed MMO (i.e in a cool box) since way way back.. so i wasn't fussed. I've bought quite a few boxes of MMO's but i think many people will be buying digital for this product.

Saying that my Son is buying the Deluxe edition with the statue in for PS4... gah very expensive.

The key number is sustained subscribers after the point where people have played through the launch content (2-3 months). Launch sales contribute little to lifetime revenue.

This. Keeping a sustained userbase for the ultimate is the goal of an MMO.

Every year there are less retailers which sells games for PC. That number doesn't mean anything, but I do think the game will be F2P in a few months too.
