Wii: Jett Rocket, Conduit 1 & 2, Modern Warfare 3

Wii U: Trine 2: Director's Cut

What do you guys reckon?

So you are saying these games exceeded the likes of Super Mario Galaxy 1/2, New Super Mario Bros/U, and Super Mario 3D World.

ok

Yes, that's what I am saying. And what's so impressive about NSMBW/U? They're incredibly basic.

Nintendo may not always push the console the hardest, but they tend to get an excellent balance of graphics, gameplay, and story in (most) of their games. Looking forward to seeing what they do with Zelda U.

Other than Conduit 1 & 2, and maybe Xenoblade, nobody other than Nintendo really pushed the Wii's hardware.

I'd say Jett Rocket, Sonic Colours, and Modern Warfare 3 gave the hardware a serious workout.

And Xenoblade is a first party Nintendo game.

Well, aside from the wii and u, nintendo always launched with the technically most impressive games for a while. Especially mario 64, it took years for that game to be matched/ surpassed. It seems lately that nintendo has gotten a bit lazy though. Their 3ds games are pretty nice, and mario 3d world, but other than that, they really havent done much lately. Id love to see them put the time and effort that they used to do for games like mario 64 and ocarina of time. If they did that, I belive they would make an amazing game, both technically and aesthetically.

Mario 64 and Ocarina were indeed pinnacles at the time, as was Mario Galaxy, but I believe they were topped later in their system's life.

I too would love to see them make a Wii U game as ambitious as Ocarina or Mario 64 were for their hardware.

Agreed about the stated fact, but there should have been Sega's F-Zero on GC. The game was so beautiful, clean and fast.

But I don't really think it's so specific to Nintendo. Quickly, most of the impressive games on megadrive or gamegear where 3rd. I can't remember a 1st party game better than black on xbox, etc. Sony is different on that, but their PS2 and PS3 cpu design were extremely complex and they were fully in charge and aware of the design details. For PS1 I can't remember an impressive 1st party game.

I agree for the most part.. I see a lot of Rareware Entertainment in those lists... that company should have stayed with Nintendo... who knows where Nintendo would be.

This.

I dunno, their last Nintendo game, Starfox Adventures, already marked the beginning of their mediocrity streak that continues today. Nintendo were just fine without the likes of Perfect Dark Zero and Nuts 'n' Bolts.

One game on its own does not mark a mediocrity streak. With Nintendo's guiding hand there's no telling how successive games may have fared in terms of quality. It could have just been a one off, but with the takeover from Microsoft we'll never know.

Rare  needs to go back to Nintendo dammit. We would get many pantie-messing games ( both graphics and gameplay wise).
