It's fantastic so far, very hard to pull myself away from it. I still die a lot, and it can get very frustrating when you lose a lot of souls, but damn the game is just so rewarding. Beating a boss fight just makes you feel so good. I've been staying away from a guide this time so I can have a natural play through, I'm so happy I went on media blackout for this game.

Just beat the fist boss and getting into the next area. Currently have 49 deaths to my name, doing a dext build. Don't know if i should stick to a shield or go duel wield, i don't get what the duel wield stance does other then some boost of damage. The damage boost isn't as high as when using a strength weapon and it takes some stamina for such small weapons.
I find the game way harder then DS, every time i get to 50 i have to farm 1.5 souls to get back to human which is annoying. Also i am disappointed how the game lacks freedom. Devs said you could go in any direction but right now that it is not possible. I wish it opens up later on.
PS: i am playing the European version, anyone else having problems connecting to the server?
I have the promo code and playing since yesterday. I like it a lot, but it seems a bit easier.

The servers are down for maintenance. I believe this is due to matchmaking issues reported by early adopters.

There is probably truth in that.
I felt like a fish in water in Dark Souls thanks to spending ~80 hours with Demon's Souls.

Same. I rage quit Demon's Souls a lot and I even stopped playing for about a month til I decided to try again. Dark Souls was way smoother for me. Most of my deaths in Dark Souls were me falling off ledges :p.

Nahh, i just played dark souls and ds2 is harder. Other then stein and ornstein i didnt have as much trouble i had with bosses as with the first ds2 boss. Overall it has to do with the new health loss system, i die recklessly way too many times, i also love to explore and to poke things that should rape me. Imo they should have made it go down to 65% not 50.
