i think people are over estimating just how much the ps4 will sell in japan.
This needs to be said: Where the hell are major the 2014 3DS games!? People complain about a Wii U drought, but I'm seeing a 3DS one, too.

Looking at the past few weeks, though, PS4 has needed anywhere from 1k / week to minus 30k / week to beat the 3DS.

there is no drought, i think 2013 has messed up your judgement due to its deliver of games
They said the same about Ps3 and we know how that went..
