I recall hearing the PS4 version looks and runs significantly better. But this article leads me to believe the disparity is once again resolution. Well, we're gonna have to wait for more thorough analysis I suppose.

I'm just glad they opted for 60 fps instead of 1080p on the X1 version.

Those 7th gen version seem to hold up pretty well considering they have one-tenth the power of their 8th gen successors.

For such aged hardware seeing the likes of GTA5, MGSV and Titanfall on the Ps360 it really should make people think about what kinda true next gen games we can expect to see on the X1/PS4 in a few years time when you look back at some of the launch games from the 360 era which barely showed improvement over the original Xbox versions of games.

Don't expect the same kind of improvement on PS4/X1 as we saw on PS3/360; there's no exotic architecture to work out this time.

It's not always about having exotic architectures. It's about having the superior architecture. (GCN -----> VLIW)

Um, what the hell? The Current and last gen versions look identical to me. Sure there's the res and framerate difference, but I expected there to be an overall improvement in the visuals as well, like Tomb Raider.

They don't look identical to me. My eyes is not perfect, but your eyes must be really bad lol.

Try the full size images:

PS4

PS3

XBox One

XBox 360

Identical indeed...

When your talking about the games in the launch window tho a lot of these titles are just going to be prettied up versions of 7th gen games rather than stuff built from the ground up with the full capabilities of the systems in mind. Having some AA or higher resolution is not really the main advantage of going from 512mb of ram to just under 8gb Gonna be seeing far more massive open worlds and far more than just some lights on roads in the distance in sandbox games like GTA in the coming years.

I didn't say there wouldn't be improvement; there will, of course. There just won't be Perfect Dark Zero to Halo 4 improvement, or Resistance Fall of Man to God of War Ascension improvement. Not even close.

Halo 4 did seem like it was on another generation of system compared to the launch xbox360 games that's for sure... but only time will tell really. Great Devs can do a lot with hardware and make it last a long time and remain comparable to PC counterparts of games.

Like I said tho only time will really tell this, I'm just hoping to see something like Fallout 3 but which utilizes the massive amount of memory to create a huge world to get lost, but I can happily concede that as of right now this is based on nothing more than my own hope.

Simple, accessible hardware will be maxed out faster than exotic, difficult hardware though. Hence PS4/Xbone won't see the enormous improvement PS3/360 did.

GPGPU compute, look it up, it is this gen's "exotic architecture".

It looks surprisingly good on 360 and PS3 to me.

It's np, to be fair a lot of games coming out late in the 7th gen make no effort at all with the hardware there and act as tho those systems just came out. I recently played Dirt showdown and I swear it looks worse than Dirt 2 which came out almost 5 years ago now. Even if it's just a handful of stuff like the Dead Space, RDR's and fallout3's of this gen I'll be happy.

Hardly exotic compared to the Cell.
