Big giant papa monkey was just sitting there while you destroyed baby monkey.

The combat is based on Xenoblade Chronicles which was pretty cool.

Doesn't Nintendo already have a deal for Monster Hunter on their platforms? What do they need another clone for?

It's nothing like Monster Hunter.

It looks like Monster Hunter with RPG style numbers jumping out everywhere and mechs.  At least the video I saw looked that way to me.

Trust me, as an avid player of Xenoblade and Monster Hunter, they play nothing alike. One is an open world JRPG, the other is a closed ARPG.

"Herp Derp, PS4/Xbone games look better, derp".

Ah, predictability. I'm not really into this type of game, but it does look really good.

Isn't it amazing how many avid fans of the X trailer are suprised by its combat.

You would think by being so stoked by the trailer they would have checked out Xenoblades to get an idea of what to expect.  I'm not saying go out and buy a Wii and/or a $100+ game, but at least just go to youtube and watch a walkthrough or gameplay for an hour or two.

To be honest I didn't like the minigun use or mech combat. Prefer Xenoblade combat looks.

Yea you're on your own with that one, bro.

Looks amazing? Really? After saw it in the Direct, my hype of X is going down a lot. Pretty disappointed. But it might be just me...

and now x

can you see the epicness fade? hope that polished gameplay is worth it...

Xenoblade was no less epic than Xenosaga

i don't know what your definition of epic is but i'll try to give mine for better understanding. and to make it easy and not too timeconsuming let me state a passage of a xenosaga 3 review that pretty much says what a mean:

"The initial hours of the game, and we definitely mean hours, will strike you down with a barrage of information that you’re hopefully looking forward to. If not, prepare to get blindsided by its sheer volume, and it’s not just Episode III. It’s extenuated by the Database, which helps detail the backstory and the passage of time between the second and third games and just about everything else you could ever want to know within the Xenosaga world. It’s also been upgraded to allow for more accessibility and comprehension with the inclusion of illustrations. The downside to this is if you aren’t willing to be fully immersed in this tome of reference then you’ll miss out on the plot’s finer details. And even if you are, the constant need to check this reference detracts from the scope of the story. With that out of the way, the story has over eight hours of voice-acted cutscenes. To say the game is story heavy is an overwhelming understatement, but it by no means has a negative impact on the game, and is what we’ve come to expect from the series."

now compared to that xenoblade certainly is a downgrade in complexity and depth. and from what i've seen from the x trailers so far, i fear that this game will be another downgrade compared to xenoblade.

That's just Xenoblade in HD with Mechs, just like Titanfall is CoD next-gen with Mechs. Nothing impressive, not even remotely close to FFXV trailer.

Infamous SS is 1080p Infamous 2 with Neon

see how easy it is? ^^

I've played Monster Hunter if only enough to dislike it. I've also played earlier xeno games. Just because one is closed world and the other is open world doesn't really always represent a large difference in the way the games are played.   I'm sure most would say Dragon's Dogma is an open world JRPG. It is and I wouldn't say that it isn't.  Doesn't stop it from playing like Monster Hunter on crack. I would go as far as saying the only real difference between Dragon's Dogma and Monster Hunter would be cohesive world vs arena like stages and DD having way faster combat at least from the gameplay perspective. So forgive me for not trusting your opinion but I have footage and more than enough experience to make my own assessments until anyone can actually play the game which is that X looks like Monster Hunter with Mechs.

I would say the biggest difference between the two is the gameplay. On MH and its clones your slashes are manually controlled by you. Xenoblade plays more like an MMO and your attacks are automated. You manually activate the special skills. I'm not sure combat like that would be akin to the monster hunter formula. There doesnt seem to be precision collision detection aswell... something that is given a huge importance on the other formula.

Nope, this cant be a hunting game. MMO RPG at worst.
