As the title says. The Wii U is still in it's infancy and Nintendo is already discussing plans about the next console. What message is this sending to people who are interested in buying a Wii U? Because this is just telling me to wait until they get it right with the next console.

I understand they start planning the next console sometime after the current one is released but it's way too early to be disclosing that info to the public. I think they're addressing the fusion rumour which is a stupid move. I was thinking of buying a Wii U soon but now i'm so sure.

i think its exciting, insight into the future. Big titles are coming to the wii U like smash, mk8 which will make it tempting for people to buy

I don't care how tempting it is. If they're planning to get rid of a new console soon then i'm not buying it.

The WiiU was in development starting 2007, the next Nintendo console won't release for a while, but it's obviously in development and will need a lot more work until its released whenever.

thats your opinion.  Many will buy and enjoy it for the biggest titles to hit it if you dont want to take part in those games, well its your loss.

Talking about a new console and actually releasing one are two completely different things. Sony first mentioned a successor for Playstation back in 1997, it wasnt released until 2000.

them talking about a new console does not mean they are abandoning the WiiU it just means they are planning the next console which they always do as soon as the one they are done working on is released.
