Same here the whole movie is just so powerful and heart breaking and beautiful it's damn near overwhelming. Masterpiece of the highest order.

I've only seen two movies from your list: Prisoners and The Conjuring. I loved Prisoners, and The Conjuring was good (better than I expected).

Most of the movies I've watched last year were those blockbuster, summer popcorn flicks like Iron Man 3, Star Trek, etc. My favorite one is probably Thor 2 mainly because of Loki, but Prisoners is my favorite movie of last year atm.

Pfft... Oscar movies - I don't watch those most of the time.

Fast 6

Insidious 2

The Conjuring

Thor 2

Wolf of Wall Street

American Hustle

The Hobbit 2

Captain Phillips

Wolverine

Good times ahead for year mate. Some very good films here. Captain Phillips was really enjoyable as Hollywood fiction but as a historically accurate document it has been reported time and time again that it is far from the truth. This New York Post article spoke on it first then the flood gates opened and it really soured my view of then film. Turns out Phillips wasn't heroic at all.

Well The Butler was highly fictionalized also turns out the main character was actually born in Virginia and never worked at a cotton plantation as a kid.   Also he only had one son that died before him of renal failure so the son that was killed in Vietnam is completely fictional and the other one is probably mostly fictional.  Fruitvale Station on the other hand is pretty historical acurate as far as I know they only added the dying dog to add some more drama to the film and probably to add some more run time as the film is pretty short as it barely goes 80 minutes.

Elysium is my favorite sci fi film from  last year. Tim Cruise's Sci fi film that bombed was pretty enjoyable too. Looper from last year was outstanding.

Actually Oblivion made money at the box office it had a budget of $120 million and made $286 million world wide.

You have pretty good taste OP. I've only seen, Fruitvale Station & Elysium from your list. I am going to check out a few more including, 12 Years a Slave soon. Oscar season brings some quality cinema.
