What are you guys talking about? I just re-watched the first 3 minutes of the IGN demo, there were 15 commands, 8 only were successful. It missed fucking 7 commands out of 15.

Most of the commands missed were in Internet Explorer. He kept saying 'Go To ' or 'Browse to '. Are these even recognized commands for Kinect?

This isn't the IGN vidoe you are talking about, that's Destructoid. It's in the OP because it's kind of funny. Check the other link above it, I don't know how embedding for IGN vidoes works here.

One thing I picked up on what the IGN guy struggled with is the comand "xbox, show my stuff"

he instead says "xbox, show me my stuff"

the system evenntually gets it but I would blame the wrong phrase in a lot of the cases with the ign guy. along with his voice not properly getting through for an unknown reason. where his skype buddy has no problem using the same comand he uses.

That clears things up. I was kinda shocked at first because the IGN video was the first I watched, the more I see the better my impression gets. I am not sure if the average consumer is going to spend time to learn how to use it.

Yeah, but the fetures are what justifys the extra hundred bucks, I ignored voice comand gadgets in the past but I will try hard to get the value out of this.

But I can see a lot of people saying screw this over a short time with it and just resort to using the controller for everything. So a kinnect free console is almost certain in the future.

Good for you. Enjoy your purchase. You should give Google Now and Siri a chance, both are good at what they do. I don't care for voice commands either. I do, however, try them out from time to time.

well fact is I use voice command every day on all my device that allow it when I'm busy with my hands... which is pretty much all the time *wink*... if I drive I use voice command for my GPS and my phone for text.... if I game I use voice command for my phone for my text and if I'm doing anything in my house (smoking, cooking, cuddling, being on VGchartz, etc) I use Kinect to navigate the 360....

so yeah I couldn't do without voice command... yeah they are not perfect but there are tons of situation where they are by far the safest and easiest, most convenient way to do things especially if you are multi tasking.... I guess people not using them because they are just 75% accurate and not 100% are big mono taskers ;P

anyway if Kinect 2 is just 10% more accurate than the first one with a better noise cancellation process and way more commands across the entire console I'm glad to pay a 100 bucks for it... that's all I'm expecting and for me it is way more efficient than the pad in plenty of situations.... like right now I need to play the next episode on hulu plus, I'm at the computer (obviously) and the pad is like 20 feet away and turned off... yeap I just nexted it while typing anyone against kinect try to beat that with a pad.... now off to cook and I won't have to bother with the pad all night... saving time, power, and useless transportation of the pad in areas I don't need it to be...

voice command is a god send for people that actually know how and when to use it....

All it will take is a update to improve. This is not set in stone.

People aren't pausing after saying Xbox. Everybody has seen the MS guys do this in the promo vids, thats how its supposed to be done.

hell yeah lol :D

what I'm saying is I hope those people completely against voice command are not the same I see swerving on the road texting or trying to use their on board GPS system... those are the people that make me want to buy a massive dodge RAM with a huge fender....
USE YOUR GOD DAMN VOICE COMMAND or don't use your device while driving....

for the rest yeah it is not necessary but nobody can argue that having the option to command something hands free when your hands are already busy doing something else is better than having to stop one to do the other.... I can't see how you can argue against that... it's like saying paper mail is better for office communication than e-mail IMO....

Seems it can do basic features like switching from playing a game to going to the home screen or going from the home screen to watching TV just fine but Everything else like changing channels and searching for websites barely ever works. Its pretty much works how I expected it to which is why I don't want the Kinect.

So you don't want Kinect because searching for websites barely ever work?

No, I dont want the Kinect becuase for me its more of a hassle to use that then using the controller thats already in my hand to change the channel or switch between apps. Why use it if I have to repeat myself multiple times for it to go where I want it to go when I can just use the controller to change the channel or go to the app I want to use.

It works decent, although i could not see myself talking to this damn thing. I'm kinda old school, i rather have my controllers until they perfect this.
