Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Predict Nintendo's Next Nintendo Direct?

It's about that time of the month... Nintendo Direct time! When do you all think it will be? Give a specific date and what you expect in it?

Here's mine: I feel November 12th, this Tuesday is too good. And I remembered PS4's date is the 15th, so I'm sticking with November 19th. They also have big releases on the 22nd.

They'll talk about Mario 3D World, Zelda, Mario Party, virtual console releases, Bravely Deafault (NA), Pokemon Bank/X and Y success, maybe another Wii U update. Possibly MK8, and some Smash footage as well.I'm doubtful we will hear anything new. Also I doubt we will hear anything on Yarn Yoshi, SMT X FE, or X.

What do you think will happen next Direct? This is also my 1st thread, so go easy on me ;)

Oh, and lock if repeated.

too hard to say, Nintendo like to pull some good stuff when we never imagine!

I honestly don't see the point of it unless they have something new to show

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Last year they did a Direct in December mostly with updates on games that had just released or were already confirmed for early 2013 release dates. They could do the same this year with updates on Mario Golf and Yoshi's Island for 3DS and then a specific release date and reveal trailer of the 4th playable character for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and then maybe a 2nd trailer and release month given for Mario Kart 8. Also some focus on eShop titles and reminders of the games that have newly released in October and November.

I expect a BIG Nintendo Direct in January just like the one this year where they blew the lid off with talk of Mario, Mario Kart, 2 Zeldas, Bayonetta 2, Yarn Yoshi, X, etc. They won't probably have any January releases so I think around the end of January 2014 they'll do another fairly big Direct and give updates on a lot of the already announced 2014 titles, along with some teases and promises of unannounced titles for E3 2014.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Right now they dont want their costumers attention drifting from Mario 3D World and Link between worlds.

Yeah I'm seeing what a lot of other posters are saying about "not much else to show this month". It makes more sense for December, or even a big one in January, much like they did this past year and what you just stated. Hopefully we get more info, that January Direct was our E3. I also wonder if SMT X FE is okay. We need to see more from Yarn Yoshi and I want to know the name of that X title.

My prediction is that the next Nintendo Direct will be the one to uncork the 2014 bottle.

I predict it will come on roughly the 19th of November, placing it just before the release of Super Mario 3D World. It will begin with some sort of surprise announcement of some big deal available for those who buy a Wii U by the end of this year, probably including those who already own it (like, say, a free game).

This will be followed by Super Mario 3D World information, a major effort to sell the game to potential Wii U owners. But it will be the opening salvo.

After this, Nintendo will begin to announce a number of third-party games coming in the first three months of 2014. There will be at least one major exclusive, and a few minor exclusives, plus reveals of Wii U versions of a number of titles already announced for other systems.

A quick pivot to 3DS will see talk of A Link Between Worlds, Pokemon Bank, and the Miiverse update (which will probably go live on the day of the ND).

Then some new Smash Bros footage, probably with a reveal of either Zelda (for ALBW), Yoshi (representing the greater Mario franchise), or a third party character (Rayman, perhaps?).

A few more "housekeeping" kind of announcements will be made, like the release of Wii Sports Club Golf by the end of the year, some new DLC for a few titles, something about StreetPass Mii Plaza for 3DS, etc.

And then closing with a completely new announcement, a new game from a classic franchise, although I don't know whether it'll be Wii U or 3DS (or both). I could see it being F-Zero 3D, for instance (3D view on upper screen, map view on lower screen), or Ice Climbers for Wii U, or a totally new franchise that might involve both. Or maybe Pokemon for Wii U. It'll be out of the blue, at least.

Probably won't happen that way, but it's fun to make predictions.

Any day is a good day for me! Probably not until next month at the earliest though.

I get as excited for the Directs as I do with E3.

Did the WiiU get that winter update yet?

Unless they do another recap of 2013 titles, then I don't expect the next Direct to happen until late January/early February, basically before DKCTF comes out, and it will be all about 2014 games. Here's some stuff I'm predicting!

-New trailer unveiling 4th playable character in DKCTF.

-New trailer for Smash Bros. with Dixie Kong as newcomer. Release date/window given.

-New trailer for Mario Kart showing off new characters, items, and tracks. Release date given.

-SMT x FE finally shown. Release date/window given.

-New trailer for Yoshi's New Island. Release date/window given.

-More in-depth trailer for Yarn Yoshi. Release date/window given.

-X get's new trailer and given official title. Release date/window given.

-New Bayonetta 2 trailer with release date given.

-Sonic's third exclusive game unveiled.

-Direct ends with a new game announcement.
