Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Predict Nintendo's Next Nintendo Direct?

They will be apologizing for DKC: Tropical Freeze being delayed again, and they hope to release it "the coming summer".

My prediction is that the next Nintendo Direct will be the one to uncork the 2014 bottle.

I predict it will come on roughly the 19th of November, placing it just before the release of Super Mario 3D World. It will begin with some sort of surprise announcement of some big deal available for those who buy a Wii U by the end of this year, probably including those who already own it (like, say, a free game).

This will be followed by Super Mario 3D World information, a major effort to sell the game to potential Wii U owners. But it will be the opening salvo.

After this, Nintendo will begin to announce a number of third-party games coming in the first three months of 2014. There will be at least one major exclusive, and a few minor exclusives, plus reveals of Wii U versions of a number of titles already announced for other systems.

A quick pivot to 3DS will see talk of A Link Between Worlds, Pokemon Bank, and the Miiverse update (which will probably go live on the day of the ND).

Then some new Smash Bros footage, probably with a reveal of either Zelda (for ALBW), Yoshi (representing the greater Mario franchise), or a third party character (Rayman, perhaps?).

A few more "housekeeping" kind of announcements will be made, like the release of Wii Sports Club Golf by the end of the year, some new DLC for a few titles, something about StreetPass Mii Plaza for 3DS, etc.

And then closing with a completely new announcement, a new game from a classic franchise, although I don't know whether it'll be Wii U or 3DS (or both). I could see it being F-Zero 3D, for instance (3D view on upper screen, map view on lower screen), or Ice Climbers for Wii U, or a totally new franchise that might involve both. Or maybe Pokemon for Wii U. It'll be out of the blue, at least.

Probably won't happen that way, but it's fun to make predictions.

Dream on. Maybe sequels to Game Party Champions and Family Party: 30 great Games Obstacle Arcade.

Unless they do another recap of 2013 titles, then I don't expect the next Direct to happen until late January/early February, basically before DKCTF comes out, and it will be all about 2014 games. Here's some stuff I'm predicting!

-New trailer unveiling 4th playable character in DKCTF.

-New trailer for Smash Bros. with Dixie Kong as newcomer. Release date/window given.

-New trailer for Mario Kart showing off new characters, items, and tracks. Release date given.

-SMT x FE finally shown. Release date/window given.

-New trailer for Yoshi's New Island. Release date/window given.

-More in-depth trailer for Yarn Yoshi. Release date/window given.

-X get's new trailer and given official title. Release date/window given.

-New Bayonetta 2 trailer with release date given.

-Sonic's third exclusive game unveiled.

-Direct ends with a new game announcement.

U forgot about the new Kirby game!!!!!!! Other than that I think ur spot on and hopefully the new game announcement is a teaser for Zelda U

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

dunno, but hopefully soon.

I'm sure we will hear more about Mario and Zelda but I'd like to hear more about future releases, like after the holidays to keep some momentum going through March,

Probably not until December. All of their games for the year have been announced, they've done all they can. It's up to customers now to either buy them or not buy them.

November 22nd is make or break.  Mario 3D World, Zelda, and Mario Party all on the same day.  If that doesn't jump-start and spur sales of Wii U and 3DS to at least meet expectations, then I don't see how the business model makes sense anymore.

Do you expect to see a big marketing push for Wii U this Christmas? You know TV ads explaining exactly what the Wii U is (showing that it's not just a controller, but a brand new console). I'm not talking MS, or Sony marketing because they simply do not and should not spend that much money.

Sorry, empty post.
On a serious note, I do believe this is a more likely scenario than any meaningful exclusive third party games being announced this coming Nintendo Direct. It's clearly up to Nintendo themselves to provide us with great exclusive software for the system. So far most of the other developers and publishers have unfortunately ignored the Wii U, and I see this situation getting worse before it gets better. I do believe that we are going to see some ports and a lot of console exclusive indie games released throughout 2014, but as far as new, exclusive third party games announced at ND - possibly the third Sonic game and a couple of other games NIntendo could be funding.

Donkey Kong Country delayed to November 2014, Bayonetta 2 & Monolith Soft's X delayed to 2015.

Prease understand.
