What is the point of this comment?
I read the OP and commented upon it so obviously I understood the argument. Maybe you should learn to read better.

Going by what you wrote (with most of which, I agree), I'm not a hardcore gamer for at least three years now. QTE's and the unexplainable love for Uncharted, Far Cry, and Assassin's Creed are some of the things that annoy me most as of recently... and my taste is kinda mirrored by:
"my favorite games are either considered "casual" or "obscure" Basically everything Nintendo and Sony Japan (not SCEA or SCEE) makes, along with other Japanese developers that aren't "westernized" like Capcom and Square Enix
Stuff like Mario, Wii Party U, Animal Crossing, Gravity Rush, Zero Escape, Persona, Nancy Drew, Casual Point and Click games, Final Fantasy, Tales Of...etc"... minus casual point and click/wii party U, plus more and more niche JRPG's, and soon more visual novels... plus arcade racing...plus 2D shoot 'em ups... well, you get it.
AAA hurr durr movie-blending is usually sad for gaming, though I rarely get to say that, even though I want to make a thread on it frequently, I'm just too damn lazy to actually do it.
Also, retract that statement for InFamous . While Killzone has been a generic bore all the way up to Shadow Fall, InFamous actually has fun gameplay and memorable locations/characters... at least the first two did!
Try to stay away from blandness that 95% of the AAA titles are, and enjoy yourself.
the title should be changed to "i prefer Japanese style games to western ones" which is perfectly fine, but get off of it. You're not quitting anything. SOme of those games you liked are just as hardcore if hardcore means time one devotes to it. Hell Persona is about as hardcore as it gets.
I absolutely agree with you. I rarely play those mainstream "hardcore" games now, since most of them are, IMO, absolutely boring. I found this 7th generation to be incredibly weak thanks to so many recycled game experiences, and the 8th one also looks to be following the same path. At least portable consoles are keeping a quality level that I can't see anymore on home consoles.

No kidding. It feels really nice to not give a rat's ass if a game is "hyped" or not. These groups some people feel the need to join, where they have to hate anything "AAA", "indie", or "casual", it's just inexplicable to me. I have the ability to judge each and every game based on its own merits, not some stereotype, which means I'm free to enjoy anything that appeals to me.
I guess some people like being bound by labels but I'd rather not even worry about them.

Can't you like all types of games? I don't think it's very fair to completely dismiss something because a group of people like it. One of my favorite Wii games was Wii Fit and I'm way outside its target audience.
Can't we all just quit spouting out fake words like "Hardcore gaming" as if it is the definition. I understand when it's used its just to signify something like a very avid player of video games, but there's no real definition to the word.
We all seem lost in identifying a hardcore gamer. With this site, this post alone, we try to define hardcore gaming, but seem more confused about what it is when it's all said and done. Try to categorize a game like COD or GOW or Halo, even smash bros. Are they hardcore or casual? My 9 year old nephew has never played Cod up until this year. He mainly plays Mario or pokemon, but he took to it like a fish to water.
My problem using the word 'Hardcore gaming' is that it equates to something like a group of bicyclist, not motorcyclist, calling themselves Hells Angels. It seems to me like those kind of gamers like to aggrandize what they do. Personally speaking, I play games from all walks of life. I play primarily mobas on pc like Leagues or Dota or smite. I also play Total war on pc and now and again I play FPS like borderland or Fear. When it comes to my PS3, I subscribe to PS plus so I play all sorts of different games and I have the habit of downloading, install and uninstall to make room for new games since my memory is all filled up. With my Wii, I play games like smash, Pokemon, just dance, I even modded my other Wii to play games that's hard to find like jrpgs. Yes I have two wii, don't ask, I just came upon 2. I have a Wii U Xbox360 that I play all to hell almost everyday and of course I've racked up hours and hours. Even with my pallet filled to the brim, I don't consider myself hardcore. It's always been a hobby of mines since Mario on the Nes. And yes, best believe that the xbone and ps4 are on my wish list.
The only ones I consider close to hardcore are those who do it for a living and then again we don't call them hardcore, we call them Pro.
the dreaded wall of text.
Erm I would say I have never been a hardcore gamer. I just played what games i like. I am just very fussy when it comes to games. I hate way more games than I like. I dont really play games every day. Sometimes I can go over a month without even touching a game.
Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!
Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st
