I see it now...but hopefully it would be more noticeable in person; as the the games in motion tell a better story than static screenshots do.  It took a lot of explaining what the diffrences are and that isn't really a good thing for now.

Again, it's a current gen game upscaled to a higher resolution.  The differences a re  going to be marginal at best.  You want some major differences, compare the graphics to the game with a game that wasn't developed with last gen hardware in mind.

*edited*  Replaced the cutscene like image from Black Flag to an actual in game image.  Both of these pictures came from a 1080p source.  The game pictured below is The Division.  The difference in graphical quality isn't even close.

i'm offtopic, again, but i have to say it.  everyone that said games already look good enough and that next gen will be "marginal" and all that other blah blah blah,..   these pictures answer back with an estatic "fuck you".  the difference is already amazing and it's only going to get better.

This comparison is a bit unfair since the top image has boatloads of JPEG artefacts, the compression applied is significantly impacting the quality.

Edit: plus, the second one is bullshot, and AC IV has bullshots of it's own

If one have said it was a PS4 vs Xbon One I think many would have belived.

That Divison screenshot does look amazing, but is it real? Probably not

There are people here that are saying not much of a jump in quality of games because of a port of a current gen game?  It's not like Ubisoft is going to completely remake the game to take advantage of the next gen consoles.  They're just upscaling the game to have better resolution, add some extra effects, etc.  Assassin's Creed 4 might be running a bit better and look slightly better for next gen consoles, but it's not taking the next gen consoles much of anything  to do so.

I for one clearly notice the difference, even though small.  I took a screen capture of one part of the video.  Maybe this will help those of you out who don't notice the differences.

Now, a few posts on the first page have already stated they notice the water.  On the PS3 version, aside from the character in the background, notice how literally everything is far more blurred.  The character in the foreground, the cannon in the background, the railing, the poles connecting the railing to the floor.  Because of the shadows and colors, the character in the background is the only thing on the PS3 version that doesn't look blurry because of lower resolution.

Thank you. People are expecting... I don't know what? These games are being developed concurrently for next gen and current gen platforms and therefore will share much of the same modeling etc. The differences will be in the little things at this point but to me the extra performance boost, crisper textures and better looking physics is worth the entry price.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the unreal expectations of the masses.

Pretty diappointing considering previous generational leaps.

Madden 99 PS1

I see the difference, but is not a 400 - 500 U$ difference, the best approach seems to wait, I can still play this games in my PS3 or Wii U.

Quite impressed, PS3 holds up fairly well. But ACIV on PS4 isn't as visually impressive as Shadow Fall, Forza 5 or even Deep Down sooo.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I liked the version on the right as it looked more colorful. The one on the left looked somewhat bland to me. Both looked choppy though.

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY

(bolded)

That pretty much sums it up to me.

I think the point is that we are nowhere near having graphics that are actually lifelike. Even though the Division shot is a bullshot, it shows that we have far to go yet.

I didn't realize that pic was modified from the videos.  I don't really think it's a bullshot because the textures on the character could look that good zoomed in, but it wasn't what was displayed in the gameplay video.  The video itself was more zoomed out. Here's a link of the two gameplay videos at the exact location in the picture.  If you notice on the second video, the gameplay at that point is zoomed in a bit and the textures of the character look better, closer to what's in the picture.  It may be a bullshot, but what I'm saying is the graphics really don't look that much worse.  These videos on Youtube are also probably compressed all to hell, losing a little bit more quality as well, but watch on 1080p.  AC4 still can't compare to these videos.
