Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Stunning Forza 5 Top Gear Screnshots

Surprisingly those images don't look that great.

Around the Network

These screens don't actually look as good as a lot of the other ones I've seen for this game. Then again, the Top Gear Test Track isn't exactly the most beautiful environment.

Gotta love the next gen-wars... we get these beautiful screenshots and people feel the need to resort to nit-picking every little detail in them.

I bet you could find tons of imperfections in Pixar's films if you're anal retentive enough.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I'll be honest, I really don't see what people find so beautiful about this game. Definitely doesn't look next-gen. The only thing that stands out in a good way in those pics is the sky.
That picture posted by kowenicki, on the other hand, looks stunning; especially that stitched leather. Is that actually from F5? If so, is that amount of detail only present in a photo mode?

WOW!

I'm not a big Forza fan, but credit due where credit due! These screens definitely look next generation, to me! Lest we forget that this is a launch game and looks better than even the most recent Forza title (as it should).

Can you please explain to me why these screens look next gen? (I'm serious by the way, I really don't see it.)

Especially the second one. The car model looks great, but not really any better than current gen games. Tire shadow on the barrier still looks pixelated. Ground looks extremely flat. The textures for the barrier supports show some wear; but that's also very flat.

This is really disappointing compared to GT2-GT3 and even FM-FM2 jumps.

That car is very detailed, yes. But it doesn't look real to me. Something is off with its finish.

It looks kinda toyish. Plasticky.

Looks CG-ish. Even though it doesn't look real, per se, the poly count jump is very apparent. Forza cars have always look less realistic than say, GT vehichles, but they've always had a stylized, pleasent appearance.

With the delay of DriveClub, it is going head-to-head with Need For Speed: Rivals. In that regard, Forza 5 definitely looks more next gen.

Says the guy with Project Car test builds :P Cute.

Look closely at the assets. The ground is not extremely flat, the smoothness of the tires is apparent (clearly higher poly than current gen games), and the lighting is fine tuned for the atmosphere. I agree that the jump from previous gens was bigger, but we're reach the point of diminishing returns, anyway. These jumps won't be as pronounced as before, but they exist.

Plus, have you seen any of the footage? The game looks better than Horizon, without breaking much of a sweat.

The ground is extremely flat. The visual texture shows the presense of small rocks embedded in the ground; however, no bumps are visible. I agree with the tires, they certainly look nice. Fine tuning of the lighting is something that's done with current gen games as well though.

I have seen footage, and that's just the thing: this game doesn't look that much better than Horizon! That's why I'm so surprised with people being so impressed by it.

Hey now, I did say it didn't look real. Project CARS is in a whole other class from anything on console. Thus, it's not even worth mentioning.

But here, Forza 5 gets trashed on a lot, and I've seen visuals, especially of late, that are impressive enough to dispute.

lol :)

Forza 5 looks fine, not jaw dropping fine but fine, cars feel really plastic due to it not working well with the new lighting system, they need to tweak it some and it should be alright assuming they have time to do it.

Hum... Ok. And? I don't get the "Looks CG-ish".  Toy Story is CG, and the toys look like toys. Transformers are CG and they look like real robots, where metal and other material look the way they should.

That car here doesn't look real.

Now, I've read your other repies here, do you consider this remark of mine as "trashing" the game?
